"Let's go inside." The words escape my lips with a huge breath of air. As we walk towards the building we notice it is very beaten down. I look for an entrance and I see two doors. One is in the front of the building but it's been blocked off. The other one is on the far right of the building and it's open. "There, we can go in there." We start walking towards the door, and Alex walks up next to me.
"Tyler, I'm scared, can you hold my hand?" She asks me in a shaking voice.
"Yeah, me too, Danny?" Anna blurts out. Danny and I look at each other and laugh. I hold my hand out and let Alex grab it, as Danny does the same with Anna. We walk through the open doorway and look around trying to find something to look for. Suddenly we hear a slam followed by gasps by Alex and Anna.
"Let's go see what that was." Danny says and we all look at him as if he's crazy.
"Are you crazy, stupid or both?" I scold him. "We are not going to look for what just slammed, it could be dangerous." Out of nowhere a high pitched scream rings out, and though it caught all of us off guard Alex was spooked most. Before the scream stops I feel Alex's hand on my chest and her head in my shoulder, as if she was looking for protection from whatever was there. "Danny take out the bat." As Danny does so, I pull out some barbed wire, some thick gloves, and a hatchet. I slide the gloves onto my hands and wrap the barbed wire around the bat, then take the gloves off. I grab the hatchet and hold it ready, in case I need it. "We stick together, okay? We don't want to hurt each other." As we walk Alex trips and almost falls but I drop the hatchet and catch her. After I pull her back up to her feet I grab the hatchet, and we keep walking this time more carefully. In the distance we see a man wearing a mask. He starts running towards us. "Danny, bat, now!" I yell as I drop the hatchet, I catch the bat and Alex, and Danny move, pushing Anna with them. I move my feet into a proper batting stance, and hold the bat up, my eyes only focused on one thing. Him. Just before he is in range I swing the bat as hard as I an and he goes down, mask falling off as it is stuck in the barbed wire. He stands up quickly and throws the bat out out of my hands. i duck and he sings a punch at me. As I move back up my fist connects with his jaw full force. He stumbles, but doesn't fall. I grab his shirt and push him back, only to pull on him again and ram the right crown of my head into the side of his nose, he hits the ground and gets back up this time with the hatchet in hand. He swings and I dodge, I swiftly throw a hook into his jaw, he falls and I grab Alex. "Run." I say quickly, as we start running. We get out but we don't stop running until we are a good fifty feet away from the building.
"I thought you were toast back there dude." Danny says out of breath, hands on his knees. I look to find Alex, and Anna doing the same thing, then I notice I am doing it too. Alex, and Anna look at me with a concerned look on their faces as if to say, that they thought that too. "Let's go home now." In unison Alex, Anna, and I agree.
"So this all got me thinking that life is short y'know, and I want to tell you something." Alex speaks with a serious tone.
"What's up?" I respond, turning my head to look at her. She looks back at me, I can feel her ocean blue eyes looking into my soul.
"I love you, and I want to be with you." The words hit me like a speeding truck. All I can do is look at her as we keep walking.
