If you stop responding to a fxxkboy, eventually he will get bored and stop trying to pursue you. All you have to do is neglect him and his fxxkboy needs, and he will leave you alone.

To my disdain, my mom would not shut up on the way home from Cheryl's house.

Why did I forget my curfew?

Why didn't I text her to pick me up?

Why didn't I call her back?

Too many questions; not enough effort on my part to reply. If only I could apply the same behaviour when it came to Reggie.

"Why do you look like that, Amelia?" she quarreled as she followed me up the stairs to my room.  My mom wasn't overprotective, or extremely strict. She just had two rules:

1. Always tell her the truth.

2. Never miss curfew.

"You look so messy! Where was Betty? Were you with Reggie the entire time?"

"Mom, seriously, I was with Betty all night. Reggie just happened to be outside while I was waiting for you," I almost always told her the truth, but some things were better off kept hidden.

"Is there something going on-?"

"Absolutely not. You'd know if there was. Goodnight, love you," I kissed her on the cheek before closing the door.

After having a shower and changing into my beloved Hello Kitty pajamas, I snuggled into my bed and opened my laptop to continue my Gilmore Girls marathon on Netflix. It was so much better to immerse myself into the life problems of Rory Gilmore instead of the life problems of Amelia May.

I was getting frustrated over the lack of compassion that Jess had. He was a terrible boyfriend! I had an inkling that Reggie would be the same type of boyfriend, too. Indifferent, apathetic and haughty.

"I am so not watching this anymore," I said to myself.

Just in time to save me from my own misery, I received a text from Betty.

Betty: SOS

My fingers clenched as I wondered what happened now. Was it Cheryl? Did Archie say something stupid to her? Whoever was responsible was going to face the wrath of Amelia May.

Me: Coming

I leaped out of my bed and quickly threw on a coat. I didn't care if I was seen around Riverdale in only my pajamas and a coat. Betty and I had done this for each other a million times whenever we felt down.

I checked the time. It was 12:50 a.m. and I knew my mom would be pissed if I woke her up, so I just left home, as I had done so many times before.

Our meeting point was halfway between our houses, at a crooked park bench at Riverdale park. We didn't have a specific reason as to why we chose this imperfect bench as our S.O.S meeting point, but it had always been there for us when we needed it.

Betty strolled along the footpath slowly, her head hanging low. Her bouncy, blonde waves were no longer glamorous, and instead hung darkly around her face like a curtain.

The last time Betty looked that despondent was when Polly was taken away.

"Oh, my god, Betty!" I cried. I ran over to her and safely led her limp body to the bench. After all these years, it still supported our weight.

I let her sob into my shoulder. Her heavy breathing was absolutely heartbreaking to listen to.

"It was Archie's turn, and- she- she went in with him!"
