DawnClan cats are usually very optimistic and cheerful. They have a saying they use quite commonly, especially towards their young: "new dawn, new day, new life". These cats are very welcoming to outsiders. However, due to a past attack on the clan from a rogue they once accepted, they give the kittypet or rogue a two-moon "incubation" period to see if they fit clan life before allowing them to join. The only exception to this is kits, who are accepted automatically and put into the care of a queen.

Their camp is located in a meadow. Their warrior den and apprentice den are burrows under the ground that once belonged to foxes. The medicine den is a hole in the trunk of Lone Tree, and the nursery is a thicket of bushes adjacent to that. The leader den is in an owl hole up near the top of Lone Tree, to show the strength of their leader. It is said the first leader of the clan killed the owl that resided in it after it killed two kits. Their meadow takes up a majority of their territory, but it has small wooded areas that surround it that are also apart of their territory where they hunt and train.

These cats have one holiday, which is called "Sun's Day". This is celebrated on the summer solstice, or the longest day of the year in greenleaf. This is celebrated by a feast caught by the apprentices and warriors of the clan. The apprentices get to compete in races, tree climbing, battles and more. The kits are allowed to explore the territory with parents permission with two senior warriors. At the end of the day the apprentices and kits catch light-up bugs (fireflies/lightning bugs). This is followed by every cat proclaiming thanks to StarClan, and then the ceremony is over. The other Clans do not celebrate this and think DawnClan is odd for doing so.

Their prey mostly includes rabbits, muskrats, prairie dogs, field mice, squirrels, shrews, birds, and very rarely snakes. Their predators are: owls, other birds of prey, black bears, wolverines, coyotes, badgers, snakes and foxes.

Their northern border is shared with SequoiaClan, marked by a rock near the tree line by the meadow. Their eastern marked by a small stream. Beyond that stream is twoleg place, which they are forbidden to go. Their southern most border is marked by a thunderpath, while their western most border is shared with NightClan and marked by a dirt thunderpath (hiking trail).
