SEQUOIACLAN [MOON TWO]

Thunderfang's threat hung heavy in the air as he lead his clan away from Lightning Tree. The crackling of trees and lightning filled the silence. No cat dared speak after such traumatic events. The pines and spruce trees made room for large Sequoias and Redwood groves as they approached SequoiaClan territory. Suddenly, another loud sound reached Eveningstar's ears. This time, it wasn't thunder.

There, laying among the debris of the fallen branches of a pine tree, was a cat. His paw was stuck; he tugged on it continuously, but to no avail. The flashes of lightning illuminated his face as Eveningstar drew near. Could it possibly be a NightClan cat that tried to sneak into their territory? His heart filled with pride. StarClan stopped them!

His steps stuttered as he neared, and he reared back in shock. This was no NightClan cat. The mangled tom was more than just scarred. He was practically hairless from all the barren patches of skin, and his face was mauled. He had but only one eye and one ear, both his right ones being torn off if the ragged scars were any indication. His jaw was slanted as if only slight unhinged, and he had no tail. One of his back legs was shriveled and lopsided.

The red tabby tomcat's familiar green eye burned Eveningstar's pelt.

"Vine-Eye?" Eveningstar's breathe caught in his throat.  This was their former deputy, Vine-Eye, the one Eveningstar trained himself. The one he thought he...

He had to run. He had to silence this cat somehow. He had to do something.

But Vine-Eye stared at him blankly, blinking his sole remaining eye slowly. "Please help me!" He yowled, tugging on his trapped paw once again. "I'm stuck!"

"Vine-Eye?!" He shouted, his voice cracking as he spoke above the yowling winds and claps of thunder. Vine-Eye's face morphed into that of confusion and irritation.

"What?! I'm Kennedy." Vine-Eye -- Kennedy?! -- hissed. "Please help!"
