Darkblossom despised weakness. It is all she's ever sought to evade. There was weakness in her mother when she allowed a single tom to destroy her faith in all cats alike, including her eldest daughter. There was weakness when the Night Crawlers divided; half wanting to destroy while the other half wanted to create. And there is weakness poisoning the clan now as they were weeded out by disease, housefolk and inhospitably of their newfound neighbors.

Begging SequoiaClan should move back the border was not what the clan wanted, but the prey was plentiful on the other side. More plentiful than here, where the farmer spooked away the prey with his loud booking-sticks that made deers drop dead in a spilt heartbeat. They've seen it before; a NightClan warrior had faced a similar fate not that long ago.

Darkblossom sighed and slipped from the warriors den. Her shoulders were stiff again from the chill and being immobile throughout the night. She padded towards the Medicine Den, where the foul scent of illness and death, along with the tangy scent of herbs flooded her nostrils.

A mysterious illness has spread through their ranks. The medicine cats have managed to trace it back to bats and rats with foaming mouths. NightClan was foolish enough to think that when those bats and rats only stared at them, that was the mysterious force of StarClan providing for them. Now their were cats lying in nests, foaming at the mouths, trying to kill their former friends and family. None of the infected were left in camp; they were all herbed out elsewhere so they wouldn't be a danger to any of the healthy cats. A single bite or scratch was all it took...

Darkblossom peeked in. "I need something for my joints again. They're stiff." The she-cat rasped, mulling over all the stuff she was planning to teach Coalpaw. She almost asked about the sick cats. As far as she knew, they were in another cave elsewhere, kept in their prison with thorn bushes. The illness made their thinking inept; it stupefied them. She shivered, and this time it wasn't from the cold.
