Encre POV

I woke up to hear voices coming from down the hallway. I could make out Celeste's voice, but the rest were unfamiliar. They all sounded male, except for one worries one I could barely make out.
"Celeste, if he keeps coming this close it's not safe for you here!" It cried.
I decided to venture out of the room. Carefully, I opened the door and stepped out. I realized that I had slept until the next night.

Slowly walking down the hall, I ended up looking into a room with 6 people in it, including Celeste.

"Honestly Felicia, I'll be fine! It's not like he's gonna charge in with his army! Anyways, you know we've hidden this place as well as we could. And, I can't just leave my people without a leader! They'd be frantic!"

"I suppose. Just be careful! Your like a daughter to me!"

Another skeleton was watching this, obviously entertained.

"Felicia, you can't protect her forever. You know she can make her own choices." He stated. His voice was deep.

"Dear Lord! You too, Fallacy?!"

"Anyways, I literally CAN'T leave right now." Celeste said firmly.

All of a sudden, her ears perked up and she looked toward me.

"And she's the reason why not."

She gestured for me to come over, so I came.

"This is Encre. She was teased and abused in the village, so she's staying here for now. She only speaks French, though, with only a bit of English laced in."

  One of the other people in the room, a person with a golden cloak and starry eyes, stepped forward. Celeste shot him a glare and growled,

"Dream, if you lay a hand in her I will personally rip out your eyes and shove them down your throat so that you can see me claw you apart from the inside."

  He looked terrified. Nodding, he hid behind Fallacy.

"I'm glad that's clear. Now, if you agree I think we've settled this."

  Everyone in the room nodded, and they all quickly left.

"Who they?" I asked.

"Oh, that was just the vampire council. Fallacy is the king of vampires."

"Oh." I responded.

"How about I make you a deal? If you teach me some French, I'll help you with your English."

My eyes widened.

"Really?"

"Of course! Unless you don't want to.."

"No! Want to learn more English.."

"Great! But first, I think we need a translater... and I know just the person!"

So, Celeste was keeping a mortal? I wasn't surprised. After all, she always was too trusting. But still... something about the mortal, what was her name.. Encre? Yes, that must have been it. Encre was different from other mortals. She hadn't run when she saw us.. then again, she may not have known what I was. I'm sure if she had she'd have run.

"Father?" My son asked, pulling on my sleeve.

"Yes Jasper?"

"Are you OK? You were kind of... spaced out for a second."

"I'm fine. Just thinking."

"Father?"

"Yes?"

"Do you still think of mom sometimes?"

"Of course. I think about your mother every day, and miss her with all my heart. Why do you ask?"

"Well.. I was wondering... how do you know if you like, like someone?"

"Why do you want to know? Do you think you might like someone?" I asked, wiggling my eyebrows(?) at him.

His face was immediately covered in a blush as he muttered,

"Maybe..."

"You know because you feel like you want to spend every second of your life with them. And when they're around, you feel goofy and self concious."

"Ok. Thank you, father."

"No problem, Jasper. And if you have anything else you want to ask me, please do."

"Alright. Goodbye father." Jasper said as he walked away.

  I'm not sure, but I think I know who he has a crush on...
