At some point during the fight Gimli and Legolas had joined us. I was relieving an uruk-hai of its head when I heard the sound of a horn.
"The horn of Gondor!" Legolas confirmed
"Boromir!" Aragorn shouted and began making his way toward the source of the horn. I too began making my way toward Boromir, but faster.
I ran down a slope, my knives drawn and slicing gracefully as made my way. I could see the form of Boromir ahead, hunched over, several black shafts sticking from his body.
"Boromir!" I yelled as I ran, I saw him look up in joy, but all of a sudden his face turned slack in fear
"Alaylyn!" he yelled in warning. Too slow did I register the archer aiming at me. The arrow sunk into my left shoulder just below the collarbone. Instantly I was overcome with the fiery sense of pain and fell to my knees before tumbling the rest of the way down the slope. "Alaylyn!" I heard two people yell, but my mind was too clouded by pain.
All of a sudden I felt a gloved hand grab my neck and lift me into the air, holding me against the rough bark of a tree.
I gasped trying to find air. I soon realized two things a) I was not going to get air, so why bother trying and b) my dagger was within reach. I grabbed it and quickly sliced the hand off my opponent before ending him. I sagged against the tree for a moment before running back into the fight, picking up my knives. At this point I was running purely on adrenaline
Finally the last uruk-hai was slain. Aragorn and I raced to Boromir's side and knelt beside him
"They-they took the little ones" he gasped out
"be still" I commanded
"Frodo, where is Frodo?" Boromir asked frantically
"we let him go" Aragorn said
"then you did what I could not" he said "I tried to take the ring from him"
"the ring is beyond our reach" I chided
"I'm sorry-, I did not see it sooner. I failed you all" he said
"no" Aragorn said softly "you did not fail us, you fought bravely, you have kept your honour" I moved to remove the arrows but he grabbed my hand
"leave them, it is over. The world of men will fall and all will come to darkness and my city in ruin"
"I no not the strength in my blood, but I swear, I will not let the white City fall...nor our people fail" Aragorn promised
"our people? Our people?" Boromir asked reaching for his sword, which I quickly clasped in in his hand.
"I would have followed you..." He said clasping his sword and hand over his chest "my brother and sister...my captains...my Queen and King" he said as his life drained away and I bowed my head, letting a single tear fall for my fallen brother and friend. I then leaned forward and kissed his forehead before whispering an elven prayer.
"rest in peace, son of Gondor" I whispered before standing and instantly regretting it. I slid back to the ground and pulled the shaft from my flesh.

I watched as the elven boat slipped along the river, like a silver leaf. I stood alone, further down the bank.
I am no queen. I told myself, think of what Boromir had called me. The line of Namrils wasn't a royal line, and it had never married into one to my knowledge.
"Alaylyn" I heard Aragorn say, removing me from my thoughts "we must go"
"I know" I said, hearing Gimli and Legolas approach. We soon stood facing each other and I raised my head "let's go hunt some orc"
