S I X

The equipment starts to spark and everything bursts into discord.

"I think we've got a fix!" Jack said yelling above the racket.

"Mr Smith now at two-hundred percent!" Sarah, she and Luke jumped back, sparks fly from their screen "Oh, come on, Doctor!" Sarah said impatiently.

Jack gestured for Ianto to take his place at the terminal.

"Harriet, a source has locked onto your location-They've found you" Gwen said anxiously.

"I know," Harriet said breathlessly "I'm using the network to mask your transmission-Keep going!" 

I stand next to Jack, looking at him both hearing a voice coming from Harriet's screen, it's something, evil.

"Exterminate!" The voice screams, I see the wall being blasted from her screen and she doesn't turn around determined to finish her job. Locking eyes with Gwen, a disturbed look on her face but carries on typing. As Harriet pushes on last button.

"Captain, I'm transferring the sub-wave network to Torchwood-You're in charge, now-And tell the Doctor from me: he chose his companions well" Harriet said, Jack and I nod with a sad smile.

"It's been an honour" She says a three Daleks smash onto the screen, she stands her back to the screen.

"Harriet Jones, former Prime Minister" She says in confidence

"Yes, we know who you are" One of the Daleks say.

"Oh, you know nothing of any human-and that will be your downfall" Harriet says after a slight pause.

"Exterminate!" They say one final time as Harriet stands still and in a second she is dead. Her screen now just displaying white noise.

The image begins to clear and the place where Harriet's square was had been replaced with the Doctor and a woman with red hair.

Jack and I laugh in relief but then an angry expression spreads across his face.

"Where the hell have you been ?! Doctor, it's the Daleks!" Jack said angrily.

"Ooh, he's a bit nice...I thought he'd be older" Gwen said with a smile.

"He's not that young" I said with a small laugh.

"It's the Daleks! They're taking people to their spaceship!" Sarah said, Martha starts talking and Sarah and Martha start conversating. I look at the Doctor's screen, a smile across his face.

"But it's not just Dalek Caan!" Martha said finally.

"Sarah Jane! Who's that boy ?" The Doctor asked.

"That must be Torchwood," He said with a slight pause looking at me then continuing "Aren't they brilliant ? Look at you all, you clever people!" He says with a smile.

"That's Martha!" The red haired woman said.

"And who's..." She says pointing at the screen with a mischievous look on her face "...he ?"

"Captain Jack-Don't!" He says warningly. "Just...don't" He says looking back at her to point a warning finger at her. The Doctor looks at Jack and then at Martha as if he's trying to look for someone.

"It's like...an outer-space Facebook!" The red haired woman said. I like her and I've only known her for 5 minutes.

"Everyone except Rose..." The Doctor said quietly, the red haired woman, cast him an uneasy sideways glance. The screen then turns into white noise.

"No!" I said running towards the screen. The woman from my dream. 

"Not again!" Jack said exasperated.

"Your voice is different, and yet, its arrogance is unchanged" A voice said through the monitor that made Jack freeze and Sarah.

"No...But he's dead" Sarah says in a shocked tone.

"Welcome...to my new Empire, Doctor" The voice said again.

"Jack ? Who is that ?" I ask, turning around and then back to the screen.

"It is only fitting that you should bear witness to the resurrection and the triumph of Davros, Lord and Creator of the Dalek Race" His voice continued.

"That Athena...is Davros," Jack said through gritted teeth "Now if I were you I'd just listen" He said his eyes filled with anger.

"Doctor ?" The woman's voice spoke.

"Have you nothing to say ?" Davros said.

"Doctor, it's all right-we're...we're in the TARDIS-we're safe" The woman spoke again this time more slowly.

"But you were destroyed," The Doctor said slowly "In the very first year of the Time War, at the Gates of Elysiem," He said disbelieving. "I saw your command ship flying into the jaws of the Nightmare Child-I tried to save you..." The Doctor trails off.

"But it took one stronger than you-Dalek Caan himself" Davros said, another voice called out and it was high pitched laced with madness.

"I flew into the wild and fire. I danced and died a thousand times!" The voice squeaked.

"Emergency temporal shift took him back into the Time War itself" Davros said.

"But that's impossible, the entire War is time-locked" The Doctor said stunned.

"And yet, he succeeded-Oh, it cost him his mind, but imagine-a single, simple Dalek succeeded where Emperors and Time Lords have failed-A testament, don't you think, to my remarkable creations ?" Davros asked, amused.

"And you made a new race of Daleks" The Doctor, still.

"I gave myself to them-Quite literally.-Each one grown from a cell of my own body," Davros says breathlessly "New Daleks...True Daleks. I have my children, Doctor-What do you have, now ?" Davros asked.

"After all this time...everything we saw, everything we lost...I have only one thing to say to you," The Doctor said menacingly "BYE!" He said full of energy. I smile at this, looking at Jack who's running around frantically with the phone to his ear.

"Gwen! Dalek saucer heading for the Bay-They've found us" Jack said, Ianto rushes away, I look over to the computer screen. The red dot gets closer to Cardiff Bay. Gwen takes over the terminal. 

"Martha, open that Indigo device! Now, listen to me: lift the central panel-There's a string of numbers that keep changing," Jack says, he picks up a large gun, I take a nice suiting gun from my holster, which is bigger than his. I give him a sly smile, he takes my hand and pulls me into his side. "But the fourth number keeps oscillating between two different digits-Tell me what they are," Jack said through the phone as he waited for a response. Gleefully I helped him put on his jacket "That's a teleport base-code, and that's all I need to get this thing working again" Jack said, he adjusts his wrist device "Oscillating four...and nine-Thank you, Martha Jones" He flip his phone shut, Gwen hands him his gun.

"I've gotta go-We've got to find the Doctor" Jack said, Gwen and Ianto watch us motionless and silent.

"We'll come back," I said reassuringly "We're coming back!"

"Don't worry about us-Just go" Gwen said.

"We'll be fine" Ianto said looking at us worriedly.

"You'd better be," Jack said with a serious look "You ready Athena ?" He asked looking at me, I put my hand onto his teleporter.

"Are you kidding me ?" I said with a smile "This is going to be brilliant!" I said, looking at Jack pushing the button and we teleported.
