Operation Ruins

chapter 3

Its been a couple of months since i killed Susie Arnold's dad and we got the house back to its old self and had a funeral. We learned that she is slowly dieing like very slowly. Susie has been around for since the bombs fell with and it happened when she was thirteen.
Bonny has some insight on how to cure her but the secrets lie within the city. Bon also told us we can't go into the area yet. She has to prepare things so in the meantime were going to help her.
Bonny sent us 3 on a mission to retrieve a better arsenal and protective gear against the monsters. She has came up with a name for them. Jackles. What they hold inside them is an everlasting mucus that can infect anything living with one touch on the persons skin. She managed to get a squad to go out and capture one without casualties.
Tom is looking at Bonnys coordinates on to where a bunker is. When we storm the city it's going to be insane.
"We are here." Tom says looking at the steel vault door before is. The door has the number 243 on it in white with a pannel.
Susie has a card with the digits to get in. She told me her family was invited to refuge when they fell. She punched in the code and I pulled out my new sword, Bon gave me. Its my arms length.
Susie finished the code and the door is opening breaking what grime holds it shut. We are facing what used to be an entrance for a cave in the middle of the woods. Now it looks like a metal vent on top of the city ruins but sealed off. The door only opened half way because of the dents.
She readys her fathers shotgun aiming it at the hole. We go in one by one turning our lights on and putting on our chemical masks because the chemicals from the war still linger within. We are wearing hazmat armour that now has Bons kingdom emblem on the back with a patch on the front.
"Keep your masks on no matter what. They did sound testing to enhance the human body but it drove them mad." Tom says to us moving slowly to the living quarters. How I know this is because theres signs on every turn with arrows. "We should split up. Boss wants this place searched completely."
"This place gives me a bad feeling in my gut. What I don't understand is why War Tech would forget to make bring in extra ventilation to keep the fog out." Susie says aiming her gun around with the light attached to it.
"Don't really understand why do experiments in a completely isolated area with innocent people. Makes me sick. Also why should we restain a few of them again?" I ask holding the sword with both hands. My lights on my head I giggle to myself.
"She wants to experiment on these people to see if she can save atleast one if possible."He says flinging a military knife in his right hand and a flashlight in the other. "Restore power first if possible. Thats where Im going. You two stay together and search for the lab." Then he disappears into the halls.
We search around the diner first and find several skeletons shattered on the floors and a smashed skull on a table with its bones around the seat. The cloths cover it all up so we dont have to look at it.
The fog is thick everywhere. Susie signals me to move into the barracks with her. Theres dead silence then it was broken by the sound of things rustling around. She points her gun at where its coming from. Nothing seems to be there but then a head pops up. It stares at us then scampers away before we could react.
"What the hell just happened." I ask.
"Shit back up move move move." she starts shooting into the fog skipping back amd pumping every shot.
As shes reloading a thing tackles her to the grounds and I kick its skull in. More of them move in so I put myself first so she can get herself together. Theres a pannel on the wall so I lock them in before they could overwhelm us. They pound on the door and Susie punches in a lock sequents to make sure they don't get out. I pull a can of spray paint out to spray "warning Infected zone" and put it back. She writes down the code and male living barracks.
"Thank you Al. They nearly had us there. Lets see what we can do about the female livingquarters. Use your hand gun this time. Or the assult on your back."
"In my defense I forgot that was on me." I tell her giggling.
"Sure you did. You just wanted to play with the sword." She laughs back. "Alright here we go." she says opening the door as I pull out the assult rifle with spare light.
We storm in and gun down all but two who we capture. The funny thing is one is a male. They try to bite at us with the pair of socks we jammed in their mouths and squerm around in the ropes making it impossible to grab us.
"When we Bonny comes in she will knock out everyone in the male area." Tom says over the mic. I forgot he can hear us when he pleases.
All of a sudden the lights come on and he informs us that hes making his proximity sweep also to meet him at the lab.
Me and Susie split up to cover the first level then to make our way all the way to the third. I feel terrible about killing these people but on the other hand I couldn't have saved them so there is no point in caring about them. Im so happy Susie didn't come in this place When society fell. She's a wonderful person and its an honor to have her as a friend. Who cares that she is a ghoul. Shes my ghoul. we realize that the the second is where they purify the water and it's where Tom was so we meet him at the lab entrance. The fog is more dense down here you have to be all up on everything so we use thermal so see movement and everything.
Everything in the lab died to too much exposer of the chemicals. We grab all the wepon boxs and suits without opening the cases to expose them. They consealed them in air tight cases and everything. We make atleast several trips before its cleared out. I stand at the door of the locked barracks and put my hand on it.
"Time to move out bro." Tom tells me as he puts his hand on my shoulder.
I meet Susie outside with her mask off sitting it beside her. I sit beside her taking off all of my suit except for what I wore underneath it. She does the same after a while.
"Hey. BB send in the units we cleared out the vicinity except for one area." Tom says looking around. "Yea. Just get some knockout gas the password is 1b24r50. Be careful though. They are prickly." He laughs at the word prickly and waits for her to get done speaking. "Yea. You will meet us out here. Bring things to clear out the trees and plant fencing because I think you will want it's technology." He waits again. "Sure. Ok. See you in a bit." Tom says walking back towards us.
"So what do we do with these two straggling around?" Susie asks pointing at the hostages.
"She told me to leave them alone. She appreciates two to study immediately."
"This was fun wasn't it? We cleared an entire vault how awsome."
