Operation Ruins

chapter 7

I leaned up and took a look around. Birds singing and tree tops rustling. There's a small fire left thats blowing smoke around.
I get up to check on Susie who's still covered up. Resting my hand on her side to see if she is still breatg and she is. Im going to let her sleep a little longer to get to make a little place to cook something on. I go around getting rocks and brush to put on my back. My pistol has a silencer so I stalk a rabbit grazing.
Its a brown adult one. I aim the gun slightly at it's head and pull the trigger. The bunny lays still pouring out on the grass it was eating. I carry it back to the sight and hang it by the feat to drain. The poor little guy dangles there back and forth. Then I head back out for more animals.
Id hunt the birds but they carry to much disease yet Ill shoot a duck or goose on sight. Im not going to find those out here.
This is fun, just creeping around the woods. A scent of 3 more rabbits hit my nose and follow. After this that should be enough to hull ass out to the chopper that went down. Taking an areal veiw from the trees there they sit eating. With my reflexes I kill two and dogpile the third. The rush is back and it feels great.
It squirms in my frantically and I snap it neck. It falls limp. Taking them into the circle Susie sit there building a stone circle around the fire on the scorched earth. Im curious on where she found the rods and when the hell did she know how to do this.
She looks over at me. "Why is there a rabbit in your mouth?" she asks while giggling.
I look down and spit it out. "I don't really know to be honest. Who tought you how to build a fire pit like this?" I ask looking at the rods mounted together like tik tac toe.
"My dad. Before the war we used to go hunting together and chopped deer. He owned a restraunt in what's now known as the ruins. It was on 5th avenue beside Jury street. You should've seen it back then." Susie says finishing off the circle.
I cut off the heads and hang them up. She places the rods down. Skins the animal like a butcher back in Drako. Perfect.
Well theres nothing for me to do but pack up the camp. We ate the rabbits, then set off towards Drako. The chopper is in the same direction.
"How is your side treating you?" I ask looking at her.
"Its doing good. Just stings a little. The blood had alteady soacked through and dried up black." She says rubbing it a lil.
"Thats good to here." I smile a little.
I don't understand ghoulification at all but it feels simple. Her pale eyes and burnt like skin is really nothing to be ashamed of and she gets that. I think this is because Allen makes her feel beautiful. Reasures her without even thinking twice or at all. I just hope they can have the life they want. Makes me wonder if Ill ever find that perfect someone.
I thought about Bonny but shes android. Bon used to belong to a very smart scholar by the name James. Hes still alive but they absolutely hate one another. She never told me why. Just left it at hes a pretentious asshole that doesn't deserve immortality by playing with black magic.
Bon told me that he wasnt always like that. He worked for a science company called Oz corp. He studied diseases that were killing people under the poverty line. The work he did benefited the world. He won nobel peice prizes and everything. Then after a while he just turned.
He threw away his disease research and started to study the dark arts. The power drove him mad. Took possession of his mind and body. He lived in the ruins somewhere before the war.
From Bonnys room you can see the city and Oz corp far off in the horizon somehow. Ive never seen it but I believe Bonny enough to follow and liaten to every word.
The truth is im 23 years old. I just acted like I was the same age as Allen. Now that this is going on I can't lie anymore. My parents used to study mind tricks to get unwanted attention forced on someone else. I took no part in it.
I just cant believe how everything turned out after the war. How nature is. It should have fallen like the city but somehow it survived. Lush green valley's and huge forest's everywhere. It just reclaimed the world after most of humanity fell.
The still isn't over. Nothing is ever over, just put aside. The whole world is destroyed yet, portals started opening and we are in a dimensional war.
Drako plans to stop it all with all the research they are doing everyday non-stop. Bonny made cloning labs incase she wants or looses citizens. Now she mostly uses them for war purposes. Like the people at the vault. They aren't human at all.
They look, act, and do all the same things as a real person but on the inside there bones are 100 percent metal. Each one has a special brain made from a 3-d printer and a chip inside to keep it fully functioning. They don't need to charge or even get a data transfer. They eat and sleep and while they sleep the memory's go to Drakos central databases. If not the android simply deletes unneeded memory.
We come apon the crash sight. The helicopter is in flames and the propellers with parts of it are stuck in smoldering trees. It sits in a huge crator.
Susie slides in not thinking about an escape route. Like its atleast 7 to 8 feet deep befor you hit the bottom.
"Hey Susie im going to make an anchor and make a vine rope to pull you out soon." I tell her as she crawls inside the remains.
