In the distance I can here choppers flying directly towards us and the roars of vehicles close by. Susie is sitting infront of the two hostages still flailing around in their restraints. They are snapping at her because they lost the socks and refuse to eat them again. Tom strikes a flare as the sun sets over the woods.
Its beautiful golden orange lights where it falls. The birds are flocking away from the area to sleep for the night. The sound of the machines are still a good distance away so I lay back against the biggest tree around.
Susie comes over and smiles slightly. "May I join you? She asks. I pat the spot beside me and she lays on my shoulder, my arm around her waist. She doesn't smell like shes rotting at all.
Thank you. For everything." Then she dozes off.
I sit there with her and Tom watches the stragglers. She starts to move a little in my arms. Im guessing shes cold so I signal to Tom she needs my blanket. He gets up and goes through my bag.
The red light of the flare is our light in the dark. He is completely emerged in the lighting his eyes sparkle. Tom tosses the blanket over her. Its nearly been 2 hours since we called for them to clear the area out. The bushes behind me and Susie start rustling. Tom sniffs it out and becomes alarmed.
He flings the pistol out of his side holster. "Get away from the bush. Both of you. Im completely stunned with fear of what is behind us. I nudge her to wake up and she does. "Run." He whispers to us.
I throw her forward and try to run but something pulls me back by my feat with incredible force. Pulling and trying to hold onto the ground Tom shoots at the thing behind me. It lets go and I scamper away to my feet. An orge stepped out bleeding from his right eye an holding his neck.

More of orges came out of hiding and stand big broad sholders. Faces tense and muscles ripped. "You all look like a tasty snack." The one with the lost eye says.

I ready my sword. "Sorry buddy. You arn't eating any of us. Go before things get ugly."
"Heheheh. Boy you are way in over your head. Surrender now or die." He says crossing his arms.
"Well then I guess ya have to kill us." I make my stance low and wide sword in front.
"As you wish." He cracks his knuckles. " you are an insolent fool boy!" He thrusts his fist at me.
I dodge it and cut his arm. The cut doesn't bleed much at all but it hurt. They charge all together surrounding us except for the vault door.
"Stand together they are nearly here! This is our stand!" Tom orders. His nails come out sharp as razors and he bellows a loud roar.
Susie looks scared but at the same time acts fearless. She holds her machetes strong gazeing at what's before us. I don't know how many there are but it looks like a solid 20.
We standoff for a second and then I charge forward. The one sacrifices his arm and knocks the wind out of me. His arm came off but still attacks me. Trying to stomp me, I roll, leaving my sword to slice his foot open. He stomps it and I yank it though him. Turning towards another one I sling it and slice it's throat.

"I need help!" Susie crys out. She backs up toward the door. Her eyes wide. Then she disappears into the vault. They don't follow her.
I automatically react and tear through them, chasing Susie in and breath in the chemicals deeply. It fills my lungs making me cough. My skin begins to burn and eyes water. Everything becomes blurry.
"Susie! Susie where are you!" I go into the diner and see a figure crying at the table. My body feels weak and I fall to the floor. "Su-sie. Help-me." My body won't move but Im still breathing and looking at what lies with my on the floor but can't make out what I see.
"Allen! Susie screams out. She pulls my body up off the floor. "Wake up! Snap out of it I need you damn it!" She bellows into my chest.
I try to speak. "Help, door." That's all I can manage to say. Now my body goes numb and she heavies trying to pull me out of the vault. Next thing I hear is muffled foot steps and voices. My eyes shut on me. Now I sit alone in the dark.
