Operation Ruins

Chapter 5

### author here. For a good part of the story it will now be told by Toms point of veiw because Allen is not going to wake up any time soon.###
Fighting off 3 ogres I see Susie run into the vault then Allen tear through the orges that ran her in. Then I leaped on one and ripped his face off, the next thing military trucks sweep around and the choppers gun down the remaining orges.
I rush to the vault door but a troop pinned me down as hazmats ran in. Moments later they carried out Allen. His body is convulsing and jerking around. His body is blistering in festering sores eat away at his skin. Susie comes out kicking, screaming, and trying to break free as two take her out as well.
The man on my back takes my hands and cuffs them. This must be a misunderstanding for what's happening. The cuffs dig into my wrist and he pulls me up to my feat. He takes me to Bon who is talking to the gaurds with Susie waiting to be transported to Drako.
"Boss what's going on here?" I yell over the choppers.
"We are taking you back to the lab to see if you've been exposed to anything harmful inside the vault. You did good today, soldier, stand down. Im coming back with you all to do the testing but your brother is first." She looks to the gaurd holding me. "Release him if you please. Im sure he will do what is asked."

He nods and releases me from the cuffs. I rub my wrist and get on with Susie. They already took Allen in on life support.
Im worried as hell about him. He didnt look right. The chemicals were eating him alive and he wasn't even crying not even emotion on his face. The ways he flopped as the men carried him out was as if they were going to evict a demon.
Susie's cuffs were taken off and she grabbed my shoulder. "Is he going to be ok? I don't know what I'm going to do without him if he dies." Her pale eyes began to water and she gave me the saddest face I've ever seen.
I clear my throat and look her in the eyes. "He will be ok. Don't worry about him. Worrying will make it hard on you as well. Professor Bon is going to attend to him then us when we get to Drako." I said gripping ahold of the railing to keep steady as we take off.
I never expexted Allen to chase after her so fast. Its easy to tell that Susie likes him but I didn't expect this from him at such a young age. I remember taking care of him after mom and dad passed.
The image of them pulling him out plays through my mind like a never ending cycle. I feel terrible that I let this happen. That I let Susie retreat.
How did she not go into a coma when she was in there? She turned by radiation from the bombs. She slowly turned into what she is now. No one could have predicted when the Koreans would do it this.
Staring off into the distance I look at how the world still burns a little. Scorched earth. Craters that leveled cities entirely. The monsters that lurk in there. This is what we are off the trying to stop.
All of the worlds unnatural horrors Drako wants to eradicate by curing them. Dragging the unearthly creatures like Orges back into their dimension. Kill off what can't be cured. All that this hell has gained will stop eventually.
Susie takes hold of my shoulder and I look back at her. "Im sorry for retreating. I didn't think hed chase after me." Her eyes begin to tear up as she holds on to her railing for balance.
"Its ok Su. Im happy u ran. They would've killed you but, every raid can't go without casualties." I gave her a good one armed bear hug. "He can sleep peacefully knowing you are safe and we are going to help him live on. Lets keep going. This is now Allen."
She picks herself up. Wipes away the tears that stream down her scared cheecks. Then turns around.
My rifle dangles on its strap rolling against my hip. I still have a full clip because I didn't use it at all. Down below I see things moving, swaying back and forth with red eyes. A bad feeling grows in my gut so I grip my rifle starring intently at whats down there. The roar of the chopper drowns out all noise from below. How I taled to Su was because I used the ear piece.
One pair of eyes follow us and after a while more follow it chasing us. I look at the piolet. Back down. They disappeared.
"Brace for impact!!!!!!" I screamed aloud and Susie held on tighter and the chopper started swerving around. Dark body like figures flurried around and I let off a few rounds. The sound rang and light flicked.
In the cockpit something grabbed the piolet through windshield. I let off some more rounds to kill it. The figure let go, disappearing into the night.
Susie held on for dear life screaming and crying. There's nothing that can be done but fight the dark ones. The piolets lose control of the chopper sending us swinging around in the air. She flew out screaming and then something threw me out.
The chopper spun out into the forest and the was a great flash of light and a ball of fire arose. It sounded like a bomb went off.
I currle up into a ball and fall into the forest. It went dark.
