*Maria's POV*

I could feel and see people turning their heads to look at me. It gave me a confidence boost. Everyone was pointing and whispering, but I didn't mind.

I just knew that this was what I wanted; attention.

I walked through day as Maria and grew more comfortable in her skin.

At lunch, I sat next to a Alexander Hamilton and I started flirting. I knew him and Eliza had a thing, but I'm doing this as Maria, so it's okay, right?

Eliza approached us, and she just smiled and stuck her hand out. "Hi, I'm Eliza" I smiled and shook her hand. "Hi, I'm Maria. It's nice to meet you."

That was awkward. My sister just introduced herself to me.

"Oh, I'm sorry, if I'm in your seat, but you don't mind, do you?" I said looking at Eliza.

"It's... no, it's okay. I just wanted to be with Alexander to discuss our date."

I raised my eyebrows. "Oh, okay. Hey, you're a Schuyler Sister, right?"

Eliza nodded and looked at me.

"Where's Angelica, I need to talk to her.." I said and got up. Eliza pointed in her direction and I walked away.

That's it; if I really want to make a mark, I have to do something I won't be proud of...

*last period of the day*

I knew I'd have to leave at least 5 minutes before the bell to get changed back into Peggy's clothes.

I raised my hand.

"Yes, miss Reynolds?" The teacher said.

"It... oh yes, that's me. May I go to the rest room?" I asked and looked at the clock.

She nodded and I took my things and left.

I walked into the bathroom to hear muffled conversations from two familiar voices.

"Can you believe her, Angie?"

"I know, who is she to think she can just... walk in everyone's lives like that? Ugh. Talk about arrogant."

Arrogant? Well, at least Maria is making her mark.

I moved passed them and walked in a stall. I hoped they'd leave soon.

As I was changing I heard them continuing to talk.

"Also, 'Liza, have you seen Peggy today? She wasn't at lunch and she was acting strange this morning."

"No, come to think of it, last time I saw her, she was storming pass me."

The talking eventually stops and I see them walk away.

I sigh in relief and walk out of the stall in my Peggy clothes.

The bell rings and I'm the first one at Angelica's car. I wait for my sisters who share a confused look on their faces.

"Wow, you guys are getting old! You're so slow!" I laugh as they approach.

We get into the car and Angelica starts driving home.

"Where have you been all day, Peggy?"

"Yeah, we didn't see you at lunch."

I finally snap.

"What difference does it make? You guys never see me at lunch! Like yesterday, my first day, I went to sit with you guys, but you were to distracted by boys to see that I sat alone, crying."

"Peggy..." they both said after exchanging a look to each other.

"I'm sorry. Schools just tough. I stayed in the dance room all day."

The rest of the ride home was silent.
