I felt Masako jump, her body was shaking..
Then, I felt it to.. A cold hand was rubbing my back, it's hand slipping up to my neck.

We both fell. Coughing, losing our breaths.
The others tried to get to us, but it was terribly way too dark for them to see..

What felt like hours, the lights flickered on, and the child who was behind us, vanished as well.

"We need to go down to that cellar" Naru said confidently.

"Are you crazy?! Masako, Mai, are you two okay?" Monk ran to us, pulling us up from the floor.

"No, but I am concerned. And intrigued. Tomorrow morning, we're all going. No ifs, ands or buts." Naru walked out of the room after that.

I rubbed my neck, feeling the warmth come back to my skin. With a sigh, I left the room with Ayako and Masako. We went to our assigned room, took a shower, and I skipped our dinner and went straight to bed.

...

Narrator's POV: Mai's dream.

Mai wandered in the darkness. She wandered the home, seeing that the walls and floors were transparent, seeing everyone eating in the huge dining hall, having a grand time. She didn't see Naru though, so she went to look around.. She was then, on the top floor, she saw her bedroom. Naru was there, sitting on a wooden chair, eating and reading besides Mai's sleeping body.

Wow.. Didn't think he could be kind enough to do that

She closed her eyes.. Once she reopened them, she found herself back in time..
She was at the once small village, seeing everything mostly dirt and small cabin like homes. In the middle of the place was a stage where there were two ropes that hung down a wooden bar. Besides it was a well. As Mai turned, she saw the big palace like building hiding behind some trees. She walked towards it, eventually entering the building.

The scenery changed. She was in the cellar.
She walked down the long, dark, stone hallway. White burning candles lit up the place but barely. She felt liquid touch her feet, she dared not to look down and see what it was.
As she walked, she saw a big spot of light. It was another room, she ran towards it, hearing the splashing of the unknown substance which concluded was blood due to the iron like smell, she then stopped. She felt herself throw up, but in the 'universe' she was in, that could not happen.

I'm sure when I wake up, I'll be covered in it...

Mai had just witnessed how these murders, well... sacrifices took place.
A young boy who had dark brown wavy hair, who looked to be at the age of 6 or 7, had his heart carved out of his body. There was what seemed to be a thick blanket covering his mouth so no one could hear his dying screams of help. Mai looked at the heart in the man's hand, watching him toss it into the middle of the room where a circle that was made out of red power was. Inside the circle was a woman.
The mother.

She looked dead, but seemed to enjoy her gifts.

Mai heard a knife or something sharp slam down onto the board the boy was held in multiple times. She peaked, then quickly covered her eyes- too scared and disgusted to cry at the moment. The limbs were taken off, then placed into the circle with the woman.
The blood of the boy was put into a metal barrel, she heard the two laugh.

With a last quick examination, Mai noticed three kids in the back of the room.

"Oh kids. It's quite the shame that your pathetic sister cannot enjoy this! We'll become Gods very soon" the father laughed.

Mai was furious. She wanted to take that cleaver that he had in his hand and chop his head off.

The scenery changed once more.
