A year has past. Christmas was coming right around the corner and for that past year, Mai had worked at a relatively popular diner that was about an hour away from her.

"Hey miss! Can I have one of your famous lemon sponge cakes please?" one person requested.
"And can I have a coffee with a banana muffin?" Another one said.

With a long sigh, Mai took the many orders and table numbers, then ran to the counter.
She clipped the pieces of paper onto the string that went across the small window which right away the chef took off. She watched as her boss/cook made all the foods and drinks so fast.

"Order up!" She smiled.

"Thanks Amanda"
Mai grabbed a tray then placed everything on it. It took a couple of minutes but she was able to give everyone what they ordered.

Eventually the diner closed which was usually around 7 pm.
"It sucks that you're quitting after today. You were a big help" Amanda yawned, plumping down on one of the wooden chairs.

"I'm sorry.. I have to for awhile. It was fun working here" Mai smiled.

The woman pulled out a piece of paper from her apron pocket then waved it around.
"Here's you last check my friend"

Mai grabbed it then placed it into her blue backpack.
"Thank you very much. Have a good one!"

Amanda waved as Mai left the building.
She ran down the sidewalk, a wide smile going ear to ear on her face.
There was so much snow and ice on the ground it made it hard but she couldn't stop running.

She darted inside her home, then ran up to her room.
Mai pulled out a small wooden box which was filled with cash. She counted all the money and with a sigh of relief she said, "Finally.. Just enough money"

She kept the box beside her as she slept. With finally happy dreams, she was ready for tomorrow.

..

Morning came. Mai had gotten out of the shower, putting on her clothes which was a black turtle neck sweater with a dark red coat with black fur on the inside and on the end of the sleeves and hood. She then struggled to get into leggings since she rarely wore them, lastly sliding in thick, black boots.

As Mai grabbed her money and her small suitcase she headed down to the living room to grab her hat.
Once she put her black beanie on, she walked out of her house, heading to the airport.

"Phone is still at 100% and portable charger is still good"

She stared at the massive building once again. She walked inside, heading to one of the many front desks.

"Ticket please" Mai pulled out the money she needed, having some left over.

"What time and date?" The lady asked.

"Anytime today would be great"

"You better hurry, the plane will be leaving shortly" the woman said, scrolling through her computer.

"Thank you"
Mai took off, heading to the terminals. She handed her ticket to the designated spot then walked down a somewhat long hallway. At the end of the hallway was a metal door which led to the outside of the plane. When she walked up the steps, they were surprisingly slippery so she was careful.

"Good.. The plane isn't that packed.."

Mai took a seat right near the entrance/exit of the plane, putting her stuff on the window seat.

She was very nervous. She kept thinking of all the terrible things that could happen while they were flying.
"Probably because this is your first time being on a plane.. Calm down and relax.." Assuring herself, she relaxed.
