"I look ridiculous!" I screeched as I stared at my reflection in the mirror.
"You don't look that bad," Dia said as she pulled the curtain back, surverying my attire.
"Are you kidding? I look hilarious!" I retorted as I touched the violet fabric.
The dress was incredibly short, reaching above my knee. It was the shade of deep purple and had gold accents. It had a sweetheart neckline that extended down into the poofy skirt. In other words, I looked like a giant, purple, marshmallow.
"Well..." Kristen trailed off as she stared at me. "You kinda look–"
"Fat?" I supplied, giving them a hard look. "Because yes. I do look fat in this dress."
The shop assistant, Daisy, gave me a sheepish smile. "It's alright, sweetie. I'm sure we'll find something."
I glanced at the large pile of clothes at my right and shook my head. I doubt we'll find a dress. This is the 10th dress I've tried in this store and this is the last dress store in the entire mall. If I can't find a dress now, I'm going to have to go somewhere else and there's literally no where else to go.
"It fits in with the theme though," Dia remarked as her head popped in from in between Kristen and Daisy.
She was right. The theme was Into The Night and that meant that the thene was starry night skies. The deep violet color of the dress resembled the color of the sky just before the sun is about to rise.
It was a good dress all on it's own. It just looks terrible on me.
I stepped out of the dressing room and towards the numerous racks that held dresses of varying colors and cloths. I saw the yellow dress that I tried on a while ago and gave it a sour look. When I wore the bright yellow dress, it looked like the sun exploded on me.
"Just relax, Megan. I'm sure we'll find you something." Dia said from behind me. She too was scanning through dress after dress.
I rolled my eyes at her statement. Relax. Pfft. Easy for her to say. She already has a dress! One that looked good on her at that. It was an orange dress that slowly ombréd into a bright yellow. It conplimented her fiery red hair and made her look like the sun as it's slowly setting.
I scanned through each of the dresses in front of me but none of it seemed to be good enough.
Too poofy.
Too long.
Too short.
Too sparkly.
Too expensive.
Too–
I stopped short as I held the fabric of the dress in front of me.
It was a deep blue color with varying shades of purple and black in some parts. Diamond rhinestones were strategically placed to make it look like twinkling stars. It had a halter neckline and reached just below my ankles. I looked at the price tag and nearly fainted at the sight of it. It was $300 below my budget. I can't believe this dress exists!
I grabbed it off the rack and gave everyone the widest grin I could muster.
"This is it! This is my dress!" I exclaimed.
"Well then go! Try it on!" Kristen said as she ushered me towards my dressing room.
I peeled off the dress I was currently wearing and wore the dress I chose. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. I looked beautiful. The dress made me look mature. My legs went on for miles and the dark material conplimented my fiery red hair perfectly. My cheeks were flushed from the heat of the room giving me a natural rosy glow.
