" Damn it, the power's out." Danny said, flipping the light switch on and off.

Hearing this, the others checked with the other lights and indeed, the lights  weren't switching on.

" I'll check outside and see if anything tripped." Danny said on his way out the backdoor through the kitchen.

"Also check for a generator!" Nick called after him.

" I'll look for the candles in the mean time." Kate rose to her feet.

" You can check in the basement, there migt be somethubg there." Anna suggested.

" Hmm." Kate nodded and left the living room, while Stacey came down the stairs with a frown on her face.

" Has anyone seen Clara?"

" No," everyone present answered in unison.

" Where could she be? - Don't tell me she's shacked up with that idiot Ethan."

" Hey, that's my brother you're talking about!" Maddie warned Stacey, feeling offended on behalf of her brother.

" Whatever." Stacey rolled her eyes as she walked off.

Down at the basement, Kate peeked in first, trying to see how far down it was. She felt a bit nervous when she realised how dark it was down there, with only the light from the window making it better. The window was quite high up the wall and that bothered her, because she would need fresh air after some time.

She mustered some courage and entered, leaving the door ajar to provide both air and more light inside.

It got quite challenging to move around with boxes being in the way. The first box she opened didn't have what she needed but Christmas decorations. Her whole body tensed for a few seconds when she thought she heard something. For a moment she felt like she wasn't alone, and this had her looking around to confirm that she was still alone. She pushed the loose strands away from her face before she continued with what she'd been doing.

When she moved on to the second one, she felt relieved to find a pack of candles along with other important stuff, in a much smaller box inside the large one.

' Thank goodness I don't have to stay here for long.' She thought as she pulled out the small box, from the bigger one.

With the box in hand, she looked around again and that's when she saw a dressing table, covered by a white sheet. Curiosity got the best of her this time and led her to walk over to it.

She placed the box ontop of another before pulling the sheet off the dressing table. The dust spread everywhere, causing her to cough. She took a step back and waited for a minute or so for the dust to settle, before walking closer again.

This time, with everything clear, she was able to see what looked like a music box, on the dressing table.

To confirm, she opened it and indeed it was a beautiful pretty music box, which played a rather familiar melody. She felt like she was taken back in time where she was a little girl, listening to the same melody while her mother played with her hair.

Her hands trembled and her heart pained. Right there and then, she felt the void of not having a mother. Her feet stepped back as emotions took over her.

' No, I need to get a hold of myself. I cant be like this, not right now.' She mentally told herself.

She glanced away from the music box and looked at the mirror.  She frowned slightly when she noticed how emotional she looked. She didn't want this, so she took deep breaths as she composed herself.
