A knock on the door makes you jump a little. It was the afternoon, and Kara was still at school. Unless it was some type of Girl Scout fundraiser thingy, you have no idea who, or what, it is.
Dave and you both exchange a 'what-the-fuck-is-that' face, before you walk over to the door. Dave skeptically follows after you, watching you open the door.
Behind the door stands a young lady; probably around early thirties or late twenties. She's a lot taller than you, probably by about six inches. You would be lying if you said she wasn't the least bit intimidating.
"Hello, are you Mr. Strider?" She questions. Brown hair was pulled back in a ponytail, which draped over her shoulders.
"Uh, he is." You point over at Dave, who walks over with a blank expression.
She gives a slight smile. "Are you the father of Kara?"
"We both are...?" Dave states, but it sounds more like a question.
She puts two and two together. "Oh, okay. Anyway, so it seems like I have found the right people." The woman stands up straight. "My name is Tori, and I'm a talent scout in the area. I see that your daughter has quite the voice, if I do say so myself."
"You just did." Dave sarcastically remarks.
Tori gives a small laugh. "Yes, I did. Anyway, where is your daughter? I would like to talk to her."
"She's at school." Dave growls. Ever since Kara started playing volleyball and going to school, he has gotten incredibly protective.
"Oh, that's okay. When does she come home?" Tori gives a comforting smile.
"Later. Now, bye." Dave hisses.
You give your tall boyfriend a look, before he backs down. "Come inside. It will only be a few more hours."
Tori walks inside, Dave pulling you aside as she does so. "Kitkat, this is a bad idea."
"C'mon, nothing bad will happen." You give a comforting smile.

"I can be what?" Kara exaggerates, staring at Tori with an unbelievable stare.
"Famous! You have the voice of an angel, if we can get you in a popular talent show, you might win!" Tori repeats.
Dave gives you a look. "Kitkat, I don't know about this..." Dave whispers. "Seems like a trick."
You shake your head. "Kara seems happy, so why not give her the opportunity?"
"What if something bad happens?" Dave worries.
"Trust me, nothing will happen." You reassure.
Kara gives a large smile as she dashes over to you two. "Please, please, PLEASE! I wanna do this!"
Dave sighs. "As long as nothing bad happens and you don't turn into a rebellious teenager."
She looks over at you. "Just make sure you give some credit to us." You wink.
Kara squeals and jumps up and down. "OKAY WHAT DO WE DO FIRST?!"
Tori stands up. "Since today is only Wednesday, I want you to come to my office on Saturday with your fathers."
The woman hands you a card, numbers and names listed on it. A signature is on the corner. "Whenever you can come by is good."
Dave stands up and lets Tori out the door. Meanwhile, Kara runs off to do her own thing. Dave comes back, running his hands through his hair. "Why are we doing this?" He worries.
"For Kara." You remind Dave, hugging him. You are a lot shorter than Dave, so it's kinda awkward. You are more or less hugging his waist. Dave wraps his arms around you, placing his head on your puffy, soft hair.
"What if something bad happens?" Dave responds.
You shake your head. "Nothing bad will happen. Trust me."
Dave sighs. "Thanks, Kitkat."
"No problem." You mutter. Dave and you continue standing in a tight hug, letting all the stress out.
AAAHHHHH sorry for the short chapter but I have an excuse- I'm working on a pretty long one-shot for my tumblr, so it's my main thing for right now. Besides, this is also a bridge chapter, kinda showing where the story is going for now on... anyway, I'll post the one-shot when it's done on here also. No, it's not a Davekat one-shot. It's actually a Zene one, and so yeah... that's all I have to say right now! Luv <3
