"Why, out of all things, did you want animal crackers?" Zacary asks as your brush his thin, wavy hair. He looks amazed by the large amount of blue and purple in your room. You bet he's wondering, how the FUCK can a girl love so much blue and purple?

"I see, I want, I get." You announce as you untangle a knot, earning a small 'ow' from your brother.

"I'm already scared of you." He jokes.

"Finished." You say, backing up on the bed. You hold up a small mirror, showing Zacary his smoothed out hair.

"Seems like we have a little more time." The teal-blood looks at the clock. "They said they would call us down at six."

You lay your head in his lap. "So... have you ever had any matesprits? Morails? Kismesi?"

He sighs. "I'm not really that interested in quadrants. I mean, of course I need a morail, but blackrom and redrom just... don't interest me. Most teens would jump on that shit, but nope. Not me. What about you?"

You take your turn in sighing. "Well, I used to be on a volleyball team, but school ended, and since I don't have a phone, I couldn't stay in touch with them. I helped the team win most of the time. Anyway, once school ended, a month or so after I participated in a talent show. I met my morail, Aqmariana, there."

"That's a bitch name." Zacary jokes.

You laugh. "Yeah. But as of a week ago, we had to leave each other behind, not only because I don't have a phone, but because Mari's parents are scared of lowbloods like me, just because of our telekinesis and psionics."

"That sucks."

You nod. "Although, father thinks I'm flushed for her and I'm like "dad no!!!""

Zacary laughs and you do too. Zacary adds onto your story. "I remember my ex-morail getting so pissed. He was a highblood, and nearly K.O'd me. He managed to draw blood, and because I seemed weak, more highbloods came for my ass."

You laugh again, causing a chain reaction with him. You two continue laughing, nearly dying from the laughter. Zac snorts, which sends you two into another round of laughter. "More about this Mari kid." Zacary manages to say through laughter.

"There's nothing else." You smile, calming down.

"C'mon, I'm a master of romance. There has to be something there."

You stare at him. "There is nothing else."

You two sit in silence. "You're smiling." Zacary whispers.

"No I'm not!" you shout, sitting up.

"My little sister is so deep in this shit. It reminds me of this one romcom, what's it called again? Oh yeah, Kara Ass Deep in the Flushed Quadrant. It's a great movie."

You hit Zacary with a pillow. He throws the pillow back you, hitting you back, and you grab another pillow from your closet. You dash at him, hitting him again. You both laugh, having a pillow fight, standing on the bed. You don't even notice the door open and your uncle step in.

"Uh... what in the world are you two doing?"

"Ya know, pillow fighting." You respond out of breath, before looking over. You drop your pillow to the ground and jump off, hugging him. "Dirk!"

"Hey kid. You must be Zacary."

"Yo." He nods halfway, earning one in response. "Nice shades."

"Thanks. Nice hair."

Zac smiles and high-fives him. "You two are total weebs." You smirk.

You walk out, only to be barricaded. "I was told to block you from coming out."

"Aradia... let me through."

She squints, staring at your hair. "You got a haircut."

"Yep."

"It's cute!" Aradia happily squeaks, letting her guard down. You try to run past, but she grabs you, pulling you into a tight hug. You let out a quick yelp, laughing.

"Aradiaaaaa!" you complain.

"Karaaaaa!" she mocks.

You stand squished with your arms crossed, giving your grumpy face. "Please?"

"No. Dirk, help me out here."

"How dare you interrupt a conversation I am having." He turns around, frowning.

"Kara is trying to get out!" Aradia responds.

"Can't help you there." Dirk shrugs, turning back around.

She growls, looking at the ceiling. She keeps a firm grip on you, only releasing when you hear your name.

You dash out of her arms, Zac walking behind you. You nearly trip a few times, but manage to get there.

A cake is on the counter, and you see the animal crackers and everything. You smile, taking one of the edible uncooked animals. You eat it, noticing Zac rolling his eyes. "Don't act like you wouldn't do this."

Your dad hugging you jump scares you, sending you backwards. You laugh along with him.

--

You take the last bite out of your slice of cake, leaning back and sighing. "I'm not surprised it tasted good. I'm a master chef."

Zacary rolls his eyes. "Whatever you wanna say, sis."

You hiss at him, and he hisses back. You two glare at each other. Your father breaks you two up in the end.

"Okay, presents." He hands you a small box. You grab it with caution, staring at him while you slowly take it out of his hands.

"It's not going to explode, right?"

You notice your uncle shrug. "I don't know. I'm the one who got it. I didn't test it."

You scowl, and unwrap the bow. It falls gracefully onto the table with no sound, the wrapping paper making a ripping sound as it joins the bow. A box is the last defense the gift has, and you tear the tape open with your hands. Another box. You sigh. It's white and has a lot of stuff crossed out. You notice your human father look at his brother, who of which shrugs. You quickly open the top of the box, you notice Styrofoam and throw it onto the table. Your eyes light up as you notice it's a phone.

You smile. "Thank you so much!" you smile at your blonde uncle.

"No problem kid." He throws Zacary one too, who nearly misses. He keeps the technology firm in his hands and examines it.

Various other presents include a small pocket knife, and Zacary gets a sword. No one knows why. Everyone blames your dad, including his brother. "It's self-defense." He explains.

"Last but not least, you need your name." Aradia speaks up.

"I already have one." You sarcastically respond.

Aradia rolls her eyes. "I meant a six-letter one."

"I know." You smirk, teasing your friend.

"You know it was going to be cool and everything but you ruined the mood." Aradia sighs.

"Just tell me."

"Karain."

Zacary chuckles. "Karain? How the hell you even pronounce that?"

You punch your brother in the shoulder. "Care-ein. It's that easy." Aradia responds with a snarky attitude.

"Well, I'm tired. Night sis." Zacary messes up your hair and walks away.

For the few hours left you guys all sit around, telling stories and jokes. Dirk leaves first, followed by Aradia. She no longer mentors you, now you have to keep your own attitude in check.
