Rory and Logan head out to Hartford Women's Center.

Excitement and anxiety fills the air of the car. First time Rory saw a picture of the baby, it was just a circle on the screen. Nothing remotely looking like a baby. Today, they will be able to hear the baby's heartbeat and see the baby.

As Logan drives to Hartford, silence fills the car, both occupants in their own thoughts.

"Rory Gilmore," the nurse calls out.

Rory and Logan follow the nurse as she heads to the back. Rory's vitals are checked and Rory has gained 5 pounds.

As they wait in the room for the doctor, Rory reaches out for Logan's hand.

Dr. Fagan enters the exam room. "Hello, Rory. Nice to see you again. And sir?"

"Logan Huntzberger, I'm the father." Logan reaches out to shake Dr. Fagan's hand.

"Nice to meet you, Logan. Ok, Rory, your blood pressure is still a little high. Not enough to worry about, but I want to keep monitoring that. Your blood work checks out. No signs of gestational diabetes. Which is good. Do you have any concerns before we do the ultrasound?"

"No, Doctor."

"Good. Now today at 13 weeks, we won't need a vaginal ultrasound. Just a regular ultrasound will do, and we will be able to hear your baby's heartbeat. Ok?"

Rory and Logan nods.

"This might feel a little cold." Dr. Fagan puts some gel on Rory's belly and uses the wand to spread the jelly.

A couple of minutes later, Dr. Fagan turns the monitor so Rory and Logan can see the monitor closely. "That's your baby."

On the screen, in black and white, is a little peanut shaped shadow. "Logan," Rory grabs his hand as they both look at the screen together.

"Ace, our baby. That's our baby."

"Would you like to hear the heartbeat?"

Rory and Logan nod their heads. A couple of seconds later the sound of their baby's heartbeat fills the room.

"It's the most beautiful sound I have ever heard." Logan proclaims.

Rory's eyes fill with tears of joy as she hears her baby's heartbeat for the first time.

"The baby's heart is strong. Good heart sounds. Baby is growing beautifully. I'm going to print out pictures for both of you." Dr. Fagan says as she wipes the gel off Rory's belly. "Congratulations, mama. Now, here are your ultrasound pictures. I am going to give you brochures about a birth plan. Some might think it is too early, but I don't think it's too early to research your options. I would like to see you again in about two months. By then, if both of you decide, we will be able to check the sex of the baby."

"Thank you again, Dr. Fagan." Rory and Logan shake her hands.

When the doctor leaves the room, Rory and Logan stay by the bed admiring the beautiful pictures of their baby.

"Have you seen a more beautiful picture, Logan?"

"No, Ace. I haven't." Logan kisses her forehead.

Logan drops Rory off at Stars Hollow. He has a meeting at Stamford, but he will be back later tonight to take Rory out for dinner.

Rory found the house unoccupied. Lorelai was out running errands, Luke was still at the diner.

Rory puts the new sonogram pictures on the fridge, caresses the pictures as she looks at it.

"Hi, Bean. You're starting to look real now. I'm very happy to meet you. I heard your heartbeat today. It was the most beautiful sound ever."

Rory cellphone rings. Caller ID says it's Jess. Rory's own heart flutters. She heads to her bedroom to answer.

"Hi, Jess."

"Hi, Rory. How was your doctor's appointment?"

"It was good. Logan was there. And we heard the baby's heartbeat. It was the most beautiful sound, Jess. I mean, it's real. Really real."

"Good, Rory. I'm happy for you both."

"Jess, I wish you were here. I would have liked to see you."

"I will be there soon, I promise."

"Jess, I am writing my book again. I am almost done with my fourth chapter. But before I go any further, I need to ask you something."

"Ok." Jess is apprehensive to know what's on Rory's mind.

"I want to write about you. You're an integral part of my life and I would like to add you in my book. I will change the name. But if I don't have you in my story, my story will be incomplete."

"Should I worry about how you're going to write me?" Jess asks.

"I will not make you the villain. You are not the villain at all. You are an integral part of me."

Jess is surprised to hear this honesty. "I am touched. Rory, I am ok with you writing me in your book."

"Would you like to read your chapter first when I am done?"

"Yes, please." Jess replies. "Rory, thank you for asking."

Rory and Jess linger on the phone a little longer. Neither wanting to hang up.

Rory hears the front door being opened. "Rory, I want to see my grandbaby. Please let me see my grandbaby." Lorelai rushes into the kitchen.

"I will talk to you tomorrow, Jess." Rory says to the phone.

"See you later, Rory." Jess hangs up.

Rory enters the kitchen to see her mom standing by the fridge mesmerized.

"Rory."

Rory stands by the fridge next to her mom, holding hands, with tears in both of their eyes. Looking with love and adoration at the next generation of the Gilmores.
