Chapter 4

He left me and my thoughts alone. I closed my window and sat down. I groaned, why does this stuff always happen to me. My friend moved away, couldn't it be that simple? Nope, he didn't move away. It turns out he drowned, but is still alive and haunts a video game.

Yep, makes sense!

I opened my computer and looked for an apartment. I told myself I would never go on one of these sites but, it looks like I don't have a choice anymore.

Perfect! looking for room mate, 2 bedroom and bathroom apartment. I responded to it and waited for an answer.

I shut my computer and lay down on my bed. Ben, a murderer? I remember when he was scared of butterflies! Is Ben really even Ben anymore? Was he the same kid I played tag with? All these questions swarmed inside my head. I got up, went to the bathroom, and splashed water on my face.

I felt really drowsy. I decided I wouldn't wait for my mom and brother to get home and passed out on my bed.

I woke up the next morning, hearing my computer beeping. I rubbed my eyes and grabbed it.

If you are interested come at 2:00p.m To take a look and meet your new room mate! The address and rent was listed below.

Sweet! I looked at the clock 1:30p.m. Ah! Not sweet! I quickly got up and ran to get ready.

I brushed my hair. I walked into the bathroom and brushed my teeth.

I stumbled downstairs and told my mom I'm looking for an apartment. Her eyes lit up, but she tried not to show it.

"You're leaving so soon? You just graduated." she said.

"You know you want me out of the house already." I rolled my eyes.

"No I don't! What could have possibly given you that idea?" she asked insulted.

Remember when I said my mom was never usually someone to lie? I take it back.

"You've been dropping hardcore hints since the second I graduated."

"I just know you can take care of yourself. You're a strong girl." she smiled warmly at me.

"Yeah, yeah," I said grabbing my keys and heading for the door.

"I love you!" she called out.

"Love you, too," I yelled as I shut the door behind me. To be honest, I was kind of glad to be getting out of there. I loved my mom, but she could be so aggravating.

I started my car and drove to the address. When I finally got there, I was greeted by a boy about my age. He looked exactly like a hipster, he wore a t-shirt and blue skinny jeans with a beanie even though it was about 75 degrees outside. He had brownish blondish hair and blue eyes.

"Hi, I'm Chris and you're the person who answered my room mate ad right?" he asked enthusiasticly.

Oh god, I forgot to ask if it was a boy or a girl. "Yea, I'm Talia."

"Well I wasn't really expecting a girl but I'm fine with anything I guess." he said.

"Well, I'm not really looking for a guy room mate soo I'll be on my way." I said backing up.

"No!" he said falling to the ground and grabbing my leg. "Please be my room mate! This has happened like 5 times! No one wants to live with me!"

"Why?"

"Well, all of them were guys and they moved out when they found out I was gay." he said shamefully.

"Oh" I said quietly. He looked up at me with puppy eyes. I couldn't help but pity him. My mind was battling with what to do, kick him in the face and run, or sigh and live with the poor kid.

I sighed, "Okay, I'll be your room mate."

He quickly got up and smiled "Yes! c'mon I'll show you around."

He opened the door with the key and walked in. I closed the door behind me. "Here." he said handing me a key.

"Thanks." I smiled weakly.

"So, this is home sweet home." he said smiling. It looked really nice. Hard wood floors in the living room a white couch and a flatscreen t.v. A sliding glass door. I followed him down a small hallway with white shag carpeting and 2 doors. One to the left and one to the right.

He pointed to the left "This room is mine and this room is yours." he pointed to the right. "If you wanna talk to me knock on my door first, 'kay?"

I nodded as he opened my door, it was a pretty big room there was a bed and 2  drawers on each side of the bed. In front of the bed was a white desk.To the right of the bed was a small walk in closet and to the left a small bathroom. It looked perfect.

I grinned at him "It's perfect."

He smiled back and said "Take as much time as you need to unpack all your stuff."

"Thanks," I grinned at him. I was excited. This could be a nee beginning for me.
