And, about half an hour later, no progress had been made in freeing Julianna. RIght now, Elle and I were sitting down next to the tree. I was humming, either out of nervousness or boredom. I don't remember which.

Then I decided to have some fun. "So, how's it going, fam?" I asked Julianna.

Despite her voice being muffled, I could still hear her response loud and clear. "Oh, life's just peachy right now, y'know. How 'bout yourself?"

"I'm just having a wonderful time," I laughed.

Then Elle gave me a look that basically told me to stop being an idiot. "I know you're having fun and all, but we should really start thinking of other ideas to free her."

I sat in thought for a few seconds, then jokingly suggested, "You wouldn't happen to have bombs on you, would you?"

Julianna kicked me in reply (don't ask me how she knew where I was relative to her feet. I guess her hearing sense is pretty accurate), and Elle gave me a "are you serious" type of look. "Sam. I know you really want to, but we're not blowing anything up."

"Damn it," I muttered under my breath.

Then Julianna asked, "Couldn't you just cut me out or something? That would definitely be the easiest solution, likely."

"Well, did any of us happen to pack a pickaxe, a saw, or something like that with us? Yeah, I don't think so," I retorted. "I swear, the one thing we need we don't have."

After that, none of us really spoke for a minute or so. Finally, I sighed, "Okay, I'm getting ready to just light a match and burn this goddamn tree down."

"Seems like the best idea we've got at the moment," Elle muttered.

Music: Speedy Comet from Super Mario Galaxy

Suddenly, out of seemingly nowhere, we heard a barking from far away. Elle and I froze in place, and within a few seconds, we were surrounded by...

Wolves. And they looked kinda hungry.

"They have WOLVES here? Yeesh, these guys truly have everything," I muttered.

"Sam, not the time," Elle said urgently.

The wolves circled us, growling menacingly and snapping their jaws at us. After a few seconds of tolerating this, I got my gun out and shot two of them. They were dead on contact. Then the other three wolves focused their attention on me, and walked towards me slowly, eventually backing me into another tree.

"SAM!" Elle screamed. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her get out a knife and charge for the wolves. She stabbed all three of them in a very rapid and quick fashion, killing them in the process. Once that was over with, we both sat there, panting.

"Thank you," I managed to get out.

"No problem," Elle replied. Julianna then yelled to us, "What just happened?"

"We fought some wolves. That's all," I answered.
