Okay, Sam, seriously. For the umpteenth time, I don't like narrating 2 POVs in a row. We've just passed the halfway point for this story and I've already needed to get 3 drinks of water. THREE.

Well, if you hate this job so much, why did you accept it?

... touche. Anyways, with that, let's get back to the story.

Let's head back to Earth, to see what things were like then. The answer was not very different from when the group originally left. The government had sent out troops to everywhere that there were suspected to be members of the St. David's tribe.

Things were, for the most part, pretty quiet, at least in the town of Lee's Summit, Missouri. The tribe now focused on small groups of people when attacking. For instance, at this moment, the tribe attacked a woman who was jogging along the sidewalks. Guess she got out at the wrong time. :P

The tribe also liked to cause damage to various pieces of property. At the same time the jogger was attacked, they were also running over the lawns of various houses around various neighborhoods, and even lighting a few houses on fire here and there.

Yeah. These people were crazy.

They also kidnapped people at random, although this happened WAY less frequently than anything else they did, and all that seemed to happen once per week, if that.

However, their success rate was, to put it bluntly, terrible. One person who ALMOST got kidnapped but didn't actually no longer lived in the hometown. In fact, he lived in Kansas now.

Luke was just walking home from school, minding his own business, when his Rock of Doom sensed an unfriendly presence. He looked all around him, but couldn't find anything or anyone. Shrugging to himself, he continued walking.

And that's when he was attacked. From all directions came angry tribe members, in their mutated forms (yeah, apparently they're not 100% human. They possess traits of wild animals for whatever reason). Luke just activated his sword arm and sliced and diced them all up. He sighed to himself, "Wow. So pathetic."

But from nearby, he heard clapping. Slow clapping. Luke turned to see a man, wearing a full-on suit and tie (with sunglasses, for the added swag effect) approaching him. "What do you want with me?" Luke demanded.

"Your skill... it's quite impressive. I would ask that you come with me," the man replied, nodding at Luke slowly.

Luke took a step back, unsure of whether or not he should trust this man.

"It'll be worth your time. We're going to need your ability to help stop the St. David's tribe."

"Look, as much as I'd love to help, I don't think I want to be used."

"Just at least try. We'll let you back out anytime."

Luke raised an eyebrow and glared at the man for a few short seconds, and then finally muttered to himself, "What have I got to lose?" and walked to the man.
