I stood at the airport looking at the instructions my Grandmother gave me. It said to wait for a a man with blond hair and a sign with my name on it. It also stated that the man's name was Carson.
My eyes shifted over the crowd of greeters, they finally landed on a man that met the requirements. Walking over I smiled, "Carson?" I asked unsure, he gave a friendly smile. "Pleasure to meet you Miss.Allegra. Sorry to hear about your grandmother."
I stiffed a bit but took his hand. "It's all right, did you know her well?" He nodded, "Except i was a lot younger." I laughed as he lead me to a brown car.
Upon entering the car i got a good look around the airport, it was bustling with people of all shapes and sizes. Nothing like the small town I'm from.
As the car departed my sight drifted towards the window. The sights were amazing, full of giant hills and areas of just grass. France was a very beautiful place, i wished i could never leave.
Finally i spotted a small town in the distance and asked Carson if that was where we were headed and he nodded. I smiled looking at the little town, there was something about it that almost reminded me to much of home.
"May I ask, do you know anything about a castle?" I watched him stiffen a bit, "Yes...... but I think that you should wait to ask questions. There will be better people to answer them in the village."
I raised my eyebrow and looked back at the town, it's just like the book said it was.
When we arrived Carson told me to head over to the only inn in town. Dragging my suit case behind me i walked over to a rather large building. A statue of a wolf in the front.
Pushing the door open i heard the soft ring of the bell. "Hello?" I asked , suddenly a women popped up from behind the front desk. "Yes? Oh! Why hello Dear, i am Mrs.Hanson the caretaker of this fine establishment. What can i do for you?"
I cracked a small smile, "Hello, i think i have a reservation for a Miss. Bellerose?" Her eyes widened a bit but turned around and looked for a key. "Yes, your Grandmother reserved a room for you for two months."
I raised an eye brow, how did my Grandmother know the exact amount of time I would be staying? Taking the key for her i walked up a flight of stairs to a series of doors. Looking at the number i found a small wooden door with the number four.
Pushing open the door i pushed my case by the wall and looked out the window. I noticed that the town was a pretty old fashioned, but it still was up to date. Like for example this building had a wifi password.
Yet it looked like everyone did they laundry by some sort of watering hole. My first plan was to find out any history on the castle, but since I didn't see a book store or library in sight its kind of dead end.
I would just resort to plan B, to ask the people living here, i guess i could start with caretaker..... walking down stairs i didn't find the caretaker but a younger woman. "Hi, do you work here?"
She nodded, "Yes is there anything i could do for you?" I nodded . "Do you by any chance know anything about a castle?" Her smile faded into a pout. "Well yes everyone here knows about the castle, but......"
Her voice seemed to trail on, almost saddened by the question. "I think it would be more educational if you asked the priest." A priest? Really? Of all the people in the town the priest knows the much? "Well, ok then." I thanked her and went to search for this priest.
After some asking around I found that he was buying some candles for a nearby stand. "Excuse me, are you the priest?" I asked, he smiled and nodded, "I am, can I help you with something?"
I nodded, "Yes, a girl at the inn told me it would be best to ask you about the castle." suddenly the people around us went silent, it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
"You're not from around here are you?" I shook my head."No i just arrived here today." He nodded, his eyes observing me. It was almost like he was judging. "Your name?" He asked steering me away from the starring crowd.
"Allegra Bellerose." I said turning back to the crowd once more before focusing on the road ahead. "May i ask why everyone is starring?" He gave me a small smile before sitting on a bench.
"You're just the first visitor we've had in a while, to add on that you asked around the castle on your first day. Most don't know it exists until day four." I shrugged sheepishly. "Well you could say I'm well informed."
He give a hearty laugh as he continues to stare at the sky. "I can tell. Well what i can say about the castle is that its very old. The road that once lead to the castle is not very easy to find, and no one has been there in 100years."
My eyes widened, "100 years!" I nearly shouted, he nodded standing up and gestured for me to follow. "I can't really tell you much else, but i do have a book about it in my church if you would like to read it."
I gave a smile, "That will do just fine, thank you."
