It's Veronica // Merrell Twins [completed]

Veronica and Jack arrive at an old, rusty apartment complex. Jack walks up the stairs followed by Veronica until they reach an old cream door with a dusty welcome mat.

Jack jangles his keys and enters the apartment. Veronica wipes her feet and enters, greeted by a smell of rotten fish and eggs.

"You can sleep in the guest room." Jack points to a dark room at the end of a small hallway.

Veronica nods her thanks and heads down cautiously to the room. She passes smelly old mucky rooms as she walks, the floorboards squeaking at her feet.

She enters the room and searches the wall for a light switch. She locates it and flicks it on, sending a dim light across the room.

There is a small single stretcher with a thin dirty mattress spread on top, with a train blanket and mossy pillow.

Veronica scrunched her nose and places her heavy bag not he floor, causing the ground to squeak.

Veronica walks her way back out to the kitchen to find Jack cooking a meal. He gestures her to sit at the table and she does, wiping leftover food before she sits down. She has gotten over her phobia of dirty chairs, but it still annoys her. (Don't remember if this is Roni but cbf checking lol)

Jack presents her with a wonderful looking meal of crab and pasta. Jack sits opposite Veronica and they both dig in.

Veronica nods in approval at the meal. For a bus driver with a old apartment, this is pretty good.

Veronica finishes her meal and helps wash up. Jack and Veronica chat In the lounge until dinner, where Jack cooks pies.

"We will set off tomorrow." Jack says as they eat their food. Veronica smiles and savours her pie.

Veronica lays by the dim light watching a moth fly around the lightbulb. She decides to check her phone and charge it, at a gross looking outlet.

52 missed calls from her dad and 123 texts.

Veronica sighs and puts down her phone. She stands up and flicks off the light, and lays back down on her mattress.

"Goodnight!" She yells out. "Goodnight Veronica." Jack replies from his room.

Veronica closes her eyes and try's to sleep when she hears the door open. She sits up and grabs her phone, flicking on the flash.

"Oh it's you thumper." Veronica sighs, gesturing for jacks big, brown greyhound to come to her.

Veronica pets thumper and he falls onto her bed. Veronica laughs slightly and snuggles into her covers, thumper at her feet.

Veronica closes her eyes and she lets her body fall into a deep, dark, long sleep.
