It was almost Christmas. Komaeda smiled at how time really did pass quickly, and how Hajime had affected almost every aspect of how he viewed at life.

Komaeda would feel happy and tingly when he talked to Hinata everyday. It was a healthy and cute crush. By the course of time, that crush slowly but surely expanded in infinite of amounts.

But his crush... turned painful.

Every passing second he had to converse with Hajime made his breathing cut short and his heart suffer. Any wrong word from his mouth could make Komaeda cry from either embarasment or paranoia, which causes him to be overconsious over everything.

He would always notice unessary thing from him, like the way his ahoge sometimes matched with his emotions, or how he'd sometimes put his hand over his stomach if he laughed for too long or when his tie was loosely tied on.

Komaeda hated that feeling.

Because every damn night, he would have to think about what Hajime did that day at least once before going to sleep. And every time he thought about him, his heart would take over his whole body and eat him inside out.

It was painful.

.....

It was a random day, at lunch time.

Komaeda subconsciously went to the cafeteria, unlike where he would usually go to.

He decided to talk with Kirigiri and Chiaki, since they were already there before him, set on a table.

He found himself quietely eating his own food, not actually thinking about Hajime for once.

Until he came in the cafeteria with Mahiru.

They didn't sit that far from Komaeda, which gave him an opportunity to eavesdrop on them.

Ca-clunk.

"I made these bracelets for you, Hajime!" Mahiru gave them to Hajime as she smiled.

"Ah, thank you. I'll be sure to cherish it properly." He smiled back and put it on. They looked very pretty and had the half of a heart on it. Mahiru was wearing the other matching one.

Komaeda was staring a bit too intensely at the scene before his eyes.

So intensely, that Hajime felt his stare and looked directly back into his eyes.

Komaeda felt like he had just been sniped in the stomach and not even a fraction of a second passed before he was stuffing his stuff inside his school bag.

"I-I think I'm sick so- uh- I-I'll be going-" He quickly speed walked with his school bag in his hands.

...

Kirigiri got worried.

Of course she would.

She sighed and stood up. "I'll go check up on him, okay?" Chiaki gave a simple and quick nod.
