Chapter 3:
After I had grabbed all of my books, Alyssa led me to the correct class, and, even though we entered fifteen minutes late, the teacher excused us. Well, he excused Lyssa, but he gave me a detention. Guess that was another perk to having a multi-millionaire for a father.
I tried to listen to Mr. Truman’s essay about Grammar Usage, I truly did. However, Alyssa was persistent in passing me notes.
Every once in a while, I would glance down at the notes, trying to look like I was still giving my full attention to Mr. Truman’s boring essay.
Some of Lyssa’s notes said: “Hey, wanna come 2 my house on Fri. 2 sleepover? M won’t b home, + D chill w/ it. Pleaz say yes!” Another one which cracked me up said: “Stop trying 2 look good. LOL, u look constipated!”
After reading the latter, I could not help but almost burst into a fit of giggles. I managed to stifle them quickly, and then I returned her note.
Trying to think of something that would be revenge for making me laugh, I wrote, “Hey, everyone has to be constipated sometime. It’s just that mine happens to be in public.”
Lyssa didn’t even try to stifle her giggles. Instead, she burst out in laughter. Mr. Truman gave her a glance that told her silently to shut up. She bit her lip, her face red from all of the laughter.
She replied with a note saying, “hey, you’re funny! By the way, u didn’t answer me. So are we on 4 Fri. Night? I hope you can come.” I couldn’t help but feel excited at the thought of me going to her house.
At my old school, I had been one of those unimportant nerds. No one ever paid me attentionSo the fact that the daughter of a millionaire wanted me to be her friend blew my mind.
I told her that I would be there. I was so excited, and I was sure that my mom wouldn’t mind me going to a friend’s house, especially because the new friend’s parents were millionaires.
I couldn’t wait for it. I gave her my phone number, and we continued texting throughout the week.
Lyssa was a great listener, and she thought that I was a hilarious person, so we suited each other perfectly. She made me laugh because of her unique personality.
Most of the time when I think of rich people’s kids, I think of bratty, spoiled kids wearing designer clothing. They probably also were busy texting their friends, who they bought with all of their money.
However, Lyssa was the opposite of what I would think she would be. She acted kind, considerate, funny, and polite to authorities.
As we talked more and more, Lyssa and I began becoming closer and closer. It was great to have a close friend again. The last time that I had been close to a friend was in third grade. After we graduated from third grade, my old best friend Rocky had left town and moved to Sydney, Australia.
Author's Note: Hey, I have found that this story is not really taking off too well, so maybe I will just have a few more chapters and then wait a while before coming back to it again.
