“So, Kevin.” We were about 5 minutes into our ride and it has been silent up until this point. “Where are we going exactly?”A big smile spread across his face making my toes tingle and he said “You’ll see.” He was obviously messing with me, but oddly I liked it. It was like an adventure and a thrill with this stranger. He looked at me and obviously noticed me deeply think about something. He interrupted my thinking, “so tell me about yourself.” I realized he hasn’t stopped smiling since we left the house. Oh how I’d love to be in his head right now, he was so adorable.
“Well I’m in twelfth grade, a natural brunette, I have no siblings and I live with my mom. I’m an Aquarius and my favorite color is green.” He just smiled, didn’t give me any input of what he thought.
“Are you hungry?” I didn’t know what to say, it was so abrupt.
“Yeah?” I gave him a questioning look and he let out a chuckle.
“Wanna get something to eat?” Kevin started tapping his fingers against the wheel to the faint music he had on the radio. Was he nervous or something?
I laughed, “Isn’t that why we left?” He looked like he was caught doing something bad and let go of his smile. It quickly formed again upon his perfect face.
“Oh yeah.’ He paused for a couple of seconds then continued. “I know the perfect place.” I nodded believing in his intuition.
About 10 minutes later we arrived at Mike’s Best, a pizza parlor. When we walked in I got a rush of the smell of the Italian goodness and my mouth watered. I also notice how the place was pretty lit and how from the outside, it looks dimmer than it actually is. Crap. I didn’t know how ii looked and also this place is pretty casual. Kevin took my hand and led me to a table in the back. We passed a couple of girls sharing a sub and I realized they were wearing pajama pants. Then I looked down at my outfit and saw why they were staring at me and laughed. That really didn’t help my self esteem and paranoia issues.
He sat me down into the big booth and then sat himself across from me. The lamp above us was so bright when I looked up at it I saw spots. When I looked at Kevin my breath hitched. His eyes looked more amazing in the bright light, they almost looked fake.
“Do you wear contacts? Like color contacts?” He looked confused for a second then understood what I meant and laughed. It roared and it made me smile.
“Nope these are my natural eyes.” Wow. That’s amazing. I nodded to him and then picked up a menu.
“So what made you pick this place Kevin?” I looked up to see him smiling at me. He fidgeted and looked uncomfortable.
“Well you did say pizza was your favorite food.” He looked at his menu next.
“Oh.” I went through the conversation we had and I realized I never said anything about my favorite food being pizza. I decided to shrug it off, I probably did say something but just don’t remember. “So what are we getting?” I asked as he folded up his menu.
“Whatever you want.” I gave him a sideways look.
“Okay then. Cheese please!” I looked at him and then quickly regretted saying it, a little too corny, which I never am. He laughed though so I figured it was okay.
“That was cute.” He leaned forward. My face flushed and then he leaned back to the booth and called the waitress over.

I haven’t laughed this hard in I don’t know how long. Two hours and one pizza pie later we were talking as if I’ve known Kevin my whole life. We talked a lot and actually had an argument which I won thanks to the couple sitting across the room.
We ordered another round of soda and laughed a little more, throwing playful comments at each other. “So.” I started. “When shouldn’t you pick up the beer? I’m sure Sam is gunna be upset about her shortage of beer.” He started with his roaring laugh again my toes tingles at the sound.
I felt my phone vibrate and it was Kat.
Katty Kat: where are you? I quickly responded because I wanted to hear what Kevin was going to say.
Me: I’m with Mystery man…well now his name is Kevin.
“Are you kidding? They have an unlimited supply of alcohol at that house.” I was confused and then I realized. My phone vibrated again. “Wow you’re wanted tonight.” He smiled
Katty Kat: FINALLY!
Kevin noticed I caught on to his plan and he chuckled. I laughed along and then stopped. “You okay?”
I was curious so I asked him, “Why me?”
“To be honest I’ve noticed you for about a week now. Everywhere I went you were there. I actually got creeped out at one point when I thought you were stalking me.” I punched his arm. Wow he was strong I could feel his strong muscles under his shirt. He laughed. “It’s the truth.” Then he continued. “Then when I saw you at the library and that guy was yelling at you” he paused. “I needed to know you. I felt like the reason I see you all over is a sign. I knew I needed to meet you.” I smiled and felt my face flush. He smiled back until he found my bruise on my arm and his pearly whites disappeared.
“He do those to you?” Kevin looked confused. I nodded as he climbed out his booth and sat next to me gently picking up my arm as if I was going to break. His hands were warm and I felt safe, something I haven’t felt in a long time. I closed my eyes and breathed in and out as I felt tears from behind my eyes and the familiar white fog filled my eyes. “You don’t deserve that?” he looked deep into my eyes. Then I felt his one hand leave my arm and grabbed my hand. “Let’s get you home.” He helped me out the seat and then grabbed his wallet and threw money onto the table. Then he led me to the door to leave.
Once we hit the night air I slowed down till I stopped. I knew at some point this would happen tonight. But why now? Why with Kevin? I quickly let go of his hand and ran over to the nearest bush and puked my guts out. With the beer I drank and the pizza I ate it wouldn’t stay down. I was so embarrassed then I felt hands touch my shoulders and pull my hair back, his warm hands gently warming the back of my neck. It was so comforting and when I stopped he pulled me to my feet and grabbed me into a big bear hug. It was amazing. I felt like I was in a cocoon with his big muscular arms closing around me. Then he pulled away and wiped away a tear that was now escaping my eyes. Just stared at me and I felt butterflies all over. His eyes and his lips looking so inviting. He smiled and said the three words I thought I would never hear again. “You’re so beautiful.” He leaned in to give me a kiss on the cheek but I pulled away from him and started walking to his car.
I turned around and saw he was still standing there. “I’m sorry. I just don’t feel good. Can you take me home please.” He had a look of disappointment on his face. Did he really wanna kiss me after I threw up? I got in and we drove in silence until we got to my house.
Kevin got out and opened my door for me. I stumbled out and tripped over the curb. He caught me and looked into my eyes. I stood straight. “Thanks for the pizza Kevin” he put his hands into his pocket and pulled out a cigarette. I was surprised, I thought he was the perfect clean guy.
“You’re welcome beautiful.” I smiled and started walking. I turned around halfway down my driveway as he leaned up against his car. He smiled back at me which made me feel better. I pulled out a piece of receipt from my wallet and wrote my name and number down. When I walked back over to him I gave him a hug and then placed the paper into his hand. He looked at it and chuckled. “I figured I did something wrong.”
I laughed “nope it was the opposite.” I started walking back up the driveway. “Oh.” I turned to look at him as he breathed out a puff of smoke. I grabbed the cigarette and took a drag. “I didn’t know you smoked?”
“There’s a lot you don’t know.” He smiled reminding me why I called him mysterious. His smile was truly amazing. I then walked up to my house and went inside. 10 seconds later I heard his car pull away and he honked. I went up to my room and looked at the close. 2:00 A.M. I then went to sleep and imagined me and Kevin at the pizza parlor as I drifted off
