“Hello?” I quickly answered the phone on the second ring expecting her call.

“Hey Hailey, its mom.” She sounded excited and happy through the other end.

“Hey mom. How are you?” I continued to cut vegetables and cook the chicken on the stove.

“I’m great. Excited to get him tonight.” I giggled at how much she loves him and the silly things they do together.

“Well he’s excited also. Keeps talking about it and all the things you guys will do.” My mother laughed on the other end and I heard shuffling around.

“Well I should be there in about 20 minutes. Okay? Are you cooking?” she always knows when I’m cooking because I go quiet trying to concentrate. I’m still getting used to this whole alone thing.

“Yes, I am. I was hoping you would stay for dinner before you go.” I did prepare 3 portions of chicken and salad.

“Oh I would love you. I’m leaving now so I’ll see you soon.”

“Okay bye mom.”

After the call I returned back to my cooking and then visited the living room to glance at the news. When I walked into the room I passed the coffee table that was full of photo frames. I smiled to myself when I saw the picture of Christian that his mother had given me. He was so young, it must have been taken a week before he was in the hospital. I really missed him.

It’s been 4 years since he passed and life would be much better if he was here.

Next to his picture I had a picture of Kevin. He is still in jail and we keep in touch. He sends me letters and I return ones telling him about my life. He tells me to wait for him, that he is already a changed man. But I don’t know.

I’m now 22 years old and I have a life and people that are important. I’m not sure if a convict would be good in my or his life.

Next in line of the pictures is a picture of me and him. He had just had a haircut and has little teeth poking out his tiny mouth. His blonde hair was curly and his eyes just like his fathers.

Just then I heard little footsteps running down the stairs and a smile spread across my face.

“Mommy! When’s gram getting here?” he asked in his enthusiastic voice. He was holding a red fire truck and his blue shirt were stained from the markers he draws with.

“Baby, she will be here soon. How about you go get your bag and change your shirt.” He looked down at the green and red marked shirt.

“But I like it like this mommy. Makes me feel like a drawer.” I smiled at him. Just like his mommy he’s got the artist trait.

“Okay baby. Go get your bag, dinners almost ready and if you do everything I tell you. Gram may take you out for ice cream!” his eyes went wide and he smiled.

“Okay!” and with that he ran upstairs.

Ever since he came into my life it had been a blessing. Even though he has no daddy, we make it work. He asks me what happened to daddy and I don’t know what to tell him. I was never good at breaking bad news to little kids.

“Okay mommy, got my bag.” Just then there was a knock on the door. “Gram!” he yelled and ran toward the door. How he has so much energy to run around I will never know.

With a little struggle he opened the door. “Gram!”

“Oh my little munchkin! You’re so big. You can’t be my little munchkin.” She bent down and gave him a big hug picking him up.

“I am your munchkin!”

“Okay. Okay. Where’s your mommy?” she asked him as I turned the corner. “Oh Hailey, you look beautiful as ever.” I smiled at her and laughed as I looked down at my stained jeans and shirt covered in food.

“Hey mom. How was France?” she had been in France for 2 years and had been away from everyone.

“It was great. But I’m glad to be home. And my second home with my little munchkin.”

“Oh gram!” he said as mom ruffled his hair.

“Okay well dinners ready if you are hungry?” I asked.

“Yes I’m starving!”

“So have to talk to Kevin?” she took a sip from her coffee and asked me with a serious face.

“Mom. I mean, we send letters back and forth but it’s every other month.” She nodded her head and looked me in the eyes.

“Have you told him yet?” I sighed and played with the napkin in my hand.

“I don’t know how. But that’s not my first concern.” She looked at me confused.

“I took him to the doctor for a checkup and they said he may be following his father.”

My mom looked at me and sighed with me. “Oh god. Is it curable?”

“He would need a heart transplant and I don’t know if he is too young for that. He is only 4 years old.”

Just then I was met with a panting little boy turning the corner. It really does concern me when he runs around like that. He looked up at me with his golden eyes and smiled.

“Mommy?” I looked at him and picked him up to put him in my lap.

“Yes baby?” his smile grew wider, looking so much like his father.

“I love you.” he leaned in and hugged me around my chest with his little arms.

“I love you too Christian.” I looked at my mom who smiled at our mother and son moment as I hugged him back. “I love you so much.”

~~~~well that’s the end. Thanks to all of you who did read this story. At least it got some love I guess. Well, I will be working on my Josh Hutcherson Fanfic and the sequel to the Logan Lerman fanfic. So if you haven’t already, fan me so you can be updated on all of that.
Now this story, in my opinion is my best story. It came from my head and everything was from my imagination or even personal experiences. It helped me have more emotion for this story. It’s different from the fanfics because for the fanfics I had to research the celebrities to make sure I had everything right. With this story that was from my head, the characters were made up so I had more fun with it.
This really is my favorite work and there is just so much drama and trauma that, as messed up as it is, makes it a great read. I just wish this story could get out to more people. Anyway thanks and love you all!!:) <3!~~~~
