Castiel

The crisp early spring air hit Castiel like a brick wall as he stepped out of the large school doors. He pulled his trench coat closer around himself as he made a beeline towards his car.

He knew Charlie would become even more suspicious of Castiel once she finds that he left school early, god knows Cas needs that. Maybe she wouldn't bug him about it? No, it's Charlie we're talking about here. Of course she's gonna be all over him about this.

He sighed and opened the drivers side door of his vehicle and climbed in, starting the engine quickly and driving out of the parking lot. "God, I don't wanna go home..." He muttered to himself. The roads were pretty empty at the moment, it was the middle of the day after all, most people were either in school or at work. He decided to take take a right at the next light instead of his usual left. He didn't know where he was going... but at the moment... he couldn't care less. So, he turned up the radio, letting the music consume him in a sort of trance as he drove down the endless, empty roads without a destination.

*~*

The next week went by in a blur for Cas. He doesn't really remember what happened in most of his classes, all he remembers is, today is Friday and he got little to no sleep last night. He can feel the weight of sleep resting on his shoulders like fifty pound bowling balls. He could literally pass out at any second, and he was close to a couple of times, luckily though one of his friends had noticed before it was too late. He was very thankful for that. He was sure he would have gotten an earful from the teacher if that had happened.

But it was in that exact moment when he was headed for Winchesters class that he remembered, shit, I have Winchester. "Fuck" he cursed under his breath as he stopped in the middle of the hall, causing the students behind him to scoff and walk around him as if it was the most work they've had to do in their entire lives. He looked around and noticed his feet had been on autopilot because he was only two classrooms away from Winchesters door.

He doesn't want to go in right away and be the first one like he was Monday. That's why he's been wasting time all week by going to the bathroom and playing games on his phone, so when he gets there he's one of that last ones to walk in. It's been working so far.... But he can't now because coincidentally, Winchester is standing outside his classroom, watching Castiel with curiosity as he stands there, still blocking student traffic.

An involuntary shiver runs down Cas' spine as he looks down at the ground, avoiding eye contact and continuing to walk.

"Hey, Cas." Winchester greets softly will a smile. Castiel tilts his head up, but only enough so he's looking at his chest and offers and small tired smile.

He quickly sits down at his desk and realizes that just like Monday, he is the first one there. He sighs softly and sits back in his seat, crossing his arms over his stomach and deciding to examine the board for the time being. It was littered with random numbers and words that at the moment, he had no energy to read or even try to understand.

Winchester drones on like his usual self, cracking some jokes every now and then. Castiel assumed this was because he realized how boring he sounded and wanted the class to keep listening. This made Cas even more tired. He fought his hardest to stay awake. He knew if Winchester caught him he was going to get a long ass lecture after class and he wasn't looking for that today. But it was within the last 15 minutes of the period, Cas' eyes were shutting and he couldn't stop them. So instead of trying he absolutely gave up the fight and figured the sleep would make up for the lecture. And just like that, Cas was out like a light.

*~* (sorry for all these time skips...)

Cas slept through the whole rest of the class, even after the bell rang he slept like he didn't even hear it. And he didn't.
