Castiel

Okay... deep breath in... Deep breath out... I can do this. All I have to do is let him go through the lesson briefly, then escort him out. Castiel took a few deep breaths in preparation, cracking his knuckles and taking another glance down the stairs. He closed his eyes I will not let myself get entangled with him again. I will not do let myself get even more attached to him. With that final small pep talk to himself, he took one more deep breath, breathing in through his nose and out through his mouth confidently then hopped down the stairs. Peeking into the kitchen he noticed Winchester pulling papers out of a large black bag that Cas couldn't recall seeing him carrying when he opened the door for him. The teen shook his head and and finally walked into the kitchen.

Bright afternoon light poured through the large window above the sink that was directly across the kitchen island that sat perfectly in the middle of the room where Winchester was stacking various math books, science books, and of course history books. Cas sighed quietly. He could already sense the piles of papers he would have to complete over the week not to mention the huge novel he had to finish reading for his upcoming English project.

Winchester glanced at the teen from the corner of his eye as he started to pull out some folders out that the other teachers had given him filled with work for Cas to complete. Dean gently placed the black bag on the floor, propping it against the wall then hopping onto one of the chairs. Cas followed, sitting across from his teacher.

They fell into silence, the unspoken truth between the two making the silence tense. Cas didn't know what to say. Hell, he didn't even know if he should talk about it. Dean finally cleared his throat and shifted in his seat. "Right. Well, let's get started."

Only about a half hour later, the kitchen door swings open and Cas' mom appears taking the attention of the boys at the table. "Hey, Cas. I'm going t-" She glances up and as soon as she notices Dean, she straightens up and a welcoming smile found its way to her lips. "Oh! You must be Castiels teacher! I'm Becky." She beamed with a slight wave. Dean instantly stood from his seat and offered his hand to shake with a smile towards her.

"I'm Dean... Or Mr. Winchester." He spoke slightly awkward. Cas could tell what he was thinking. Sure he hadn't known Winchester for that long but it was long enough for him to know that he was thinking about the divorce. It didn't matter that he was doing an amazing job of covering up that he knew about his family issues, but who wouldn't be thinking about it when they're suddenly meeting one of the spouses.

"Oh! I don't think I've ever heard Castiel mention you." She tilted her head, glancing back at Cas who was still sitting at the table watching the two.

"Yeah, because we talk so much." Cas retorted under his breath, as he fiddled with the corner of his text book.

"What do you teach?" It was obvious that she was trying to keep the conversation going. It wasn't just curiosity, she wanted something. Cas knew it. Oh no.

"History and economics. It's not the most fun topic but..." He shrugged his shoulders not really knowing where he was going with that sentence. The room slipped into silence. Nobody knew what to say next making it very awkward.

"Well..." Becky cleared her throat. "I just came in to tell Cas I was going to make dinner. But since you're here, why don't you stay." She smiled. Cas caught Winchester tense but he was able to catch himself before Becky could notice and played it off, acting bashful.
