un : if you're having a bad day, get back in the shower.

not only does it change your appearance- it makes your face less red, closes your pores, makes blackheads less visible, changes your hairstyle, it feels like a new moment when you step out of the shower. it's a good procrastinating tool too. you can't do homework in the shower!

deux : find a hobby that includes writing.

whether or not it's diary entries, favorite historical figures, copied math formulas, or science theories, writing is an amazing way to have something physical for proof that you have been productive.

trois : granola bars.

when i have anxiety flare ups, i struggle with the entirety of the act of eating. it's either too little, or i just forget all together. having granola bars is a good snack and healthy, and can serve as a replacement for any meal. you can't live off of brownie cliff bars, but it's a good start.

quarte : guidance counselors are your friends, and will talk to you.

i love my guidance counselor, and she's helped me understand and grow, both about therapy and realizing i needed more help. they aren't just there to help with classes, and you aren't burdening them with your problems. send them an email so they'll call you down instead of having to take the initave and get out of class to avoid more anxiousness.

cinq : be honest with teachers, because they are in charge of presentations.

a teacher will allow you to present in front of a smaller group. they will be understanding of the symptoms associated with anxiety. they aren't monsters there to suck your soul and teach you quadratic formula. talk to them. email is easy!

six : have a favorite tv show to binge.

watching too many episodes of grey's anatomy actually makes you feel better. it's science.

sept : organize planned dates on a schedule with a friend.

having a specific event on a specific day that you can't skip without messing up plans is crucial. it keeps you from being a hermit, and it's always better when you're out, even if you didn't want to go out in the first place.

huit : be a teacher's pet.

apparently, this isn't obvious. a close relationship with teachers allows a greater understanding and a better relationship. the kinder teachers are to you, the less anxiety you feel in their class. and, their class becomes a sanctuary if something else becomes messed up in your home or school life.

neuf : know when to stop.

mental health days are important. if you've gotten to the point where you're making yourself sick from anxiousness, taking a day off to relax will not kill you. have a friend get all your classwork and updates so you're reading for the next day.

dix : everything is clearer later at night.

if the anxiety gets bad enough, staying up super late is inevitable. but, it's actually super helpful. that feeling of calmness in 3am will help clear your kind. no responsibilites or people to impress at 3am, just you and the phone screen lighting up your face. write down feelings, or thoughts. epiphanies. be clear. take an hour to breathe. you'll be tired in the morning, but maybe use that day as a mental health day and talk to your parents about your 3am musings.

none of these replace actual medical help. for people with diagnosed anxiety, or even undiagnosed anxiety, these tips help me. different things will help others!!
