Undertow

A/n: An undertow is another word for a rip current. It softly tugs people towards the center of the ocean when they go too deep and the farther out you go into the water, the stronger the undertow is. It's how most people get lost in the never ending waves. Hope this helps you understand the poem better.

-

I'm getting caught in the undertow

Gently being tugged by sand from land

Away from sand with the sand

Away from hands, with my hands

-

Swim till you're caught in the undertow

Drift till the sea's lower than your all time low

And when it's time, realize you're too far

Feel fear if you wish or just accept your scars

-

Breath the ocean water like a breath of flowers

Cause you're Poseidon, accept your power

You'll never know unless you try

And oh-fucking-well if you don't wanna die

-

The feeling of your toes being lead by the sand

Gently accepting, grabbing the sand's abundant hands

Further and further from your home called land

Finally giving in to openly understand

-

Closer to infinity forever woven

Following the path everyone should've chosen

Looking back at the shore

Looking back at the war

Looking back, wanting your decision to be forevermore

-

Never wanting to leave the water

Don't wanna fight, wanna follow the waves

Fully aware of it's potential slaughter

Making the blue more beautiful as it leads you to the caves

-

But your people tell you 'fight, go the other way'

'You gotta go back and stay on land another day'

You gotta ask for the ship to save

You who wants to be left in the caves

-

So you fight and come back to the dry dirt

Walk up to the beach

Hear boys whistling, all they do is flirt

Now it's time to grab the earth's bleach

-

Dreaming at night bout the cool undertow

Dreaming about the wet sand's gentle nudges

Bringing you to realize and peacefully sew

An ocean of human's unreasonable grudges

-

Grudges in layers, folded like wool

Against the loving sea

I don't know why they don't accept the pull

But I guess the only acceptor is me

-

I'll say it again, the pull of the undertow is magic

I don't know why it's seen as something so tragic

You just gotta effortlessly follow it's lead

If you don't fight it, it'll let you be

-

Follow the pull of the underwater grains

Pulling you to the heart of the water from rain

My hearts forever with the ocean, call me insane

So I'll follow the undertow as it calls my name

-

But they 'saved me'

They thought I'd die

They didn't believe I could even try

To tame the waves, they'd thought I'd lied

And now it's time to say goodbye

-

I have to say goodbye to the undertow

I have to say bye to the caves

I have to give up feeling sand in my toes

I have to say bye to the waves
