It's been two months since the first treatment, the side effects of it were harsh and nearly unbearable. I had giant headaches, itches, trouble breathing and always either diarrhoea for days or constipation, it wasn't fun. Especially not the scrubbing of the toilet twice after each usage.
Jungkook was beginning to notice something was wrong too, I always wore hats nowadays, the house was a mess, I was thin and my skin was dry and had a sickly pale complexion. I tried my best to avoid him, as the doctor said I should. I didn't go to work anymore, I couldn't handle it, not anymore. I didn't want to go see Mei, because unlike I had told her, I actually did like her that way and it hurt to see her smile and act nice when I couldn't actually do so as well.
I just returned to the paperwork on the desk in my room. There were too many bills, just waiting to get paid. I was already over halfway through my college money, as I had no insurance or anything. The treatments were too expensive and our daily needs I had to pay from my work, making sure to put mire money on Jungkooks college and marriage account than before.
I never thought it would come to this, where I was writing slowly on my testimony, who to leave what. Of course Jungkook got nearly all, but there were some things I wanted Beakhyun and Chanyeol to have, that reminded me of old times and good memories to have.
I sighed and leaned back in my chair, leaning my hands on the back of my head. Instinctively I started rubbing over my head, there were no traces of even stubbles on it. There was no hair at all.
I faraway heard the front door close and quickly put away the papers, hiding them in my drawer and locking it after. I quickly put on my hat and headband under it and grabbed a book to read. Jungkook always had a bad habit of storming into my room if he needed something, you never know. Just then the door opened and a frowning Jungkook walked it.
"Taehyung we need to talk" He said. I frowned and nodded, following him downstairs slowly. I had to support myself on the wall a few times, making sure he didn't see.
"What is it?" I asked once we had sat down on the couch. He handed me a letter, unopened. "What's this?"
"I applied to a university, of art in Seoul" he said nervously. "That letter says whether I'm accepted or not, I want you to open it"
I stared at him in silence, barely grasping what he had just said.
"W-why didn't you tell me?" I stuttered. I saw him frown.
"I'm telling you now right?" He shrugged.
"Jungkook, you can't just... you have to think a-about costs and others people and-and things when you do this" I tried to tell him, to which he rolled his eyes.
"Just open it, or I'll do it myself" he grumbled. "Why can't you just be happy for me?"
I bit my lip and decided to ignore his last words and focused on the letter in my hands, carefully opening it. I slid the letter out of the envelope and slowly unfolded it, reading the context.
"What does it say? Did I get rejected?" Jungkook hesitantly asked, noticing my look.
"Jungkook" I started. "You-you got accepted!" A smile spread across my face.
"R-really? You're not joking are you, I'll punch you if you are" his eyes shined with glee, even when physically threatening me.
"Look!" I said and showed him the paper with 'Congratulations, you have been excepted!'.
"Omg!" He shouted and took the letter from me, jumping up and down in his spot happily. His smile never left his face. "I gotta tell Jimin!"
He took out his phone and dialled Jimin immediately, shouting the news in the microphone once the call got answered. I stayed seated on the couch and smiled at the adorable sight of my little brother jumping around and yelling excitedly.
A sudden frown came on my face, which I shook off as the fleeting thought disappeared as soon as it came to my mind. I didn't have to ponder about negative things right now, now I had to be focused on Jungkook.
"Invite them over" I told Jungkook in a small moment of silence and grabbed a bit of cash from my wallet and dressed to go out. "I'll be right back"
There was a small bakery on the corner of our street, whose cakes were Jungkook's favourite amongst all. I decided to take my time walking there to think about everything.
Tomorrow I'd have to look up the costs and such, maybe I'll need to put more in his account.
I walked through the door of the bakery, into the warmth. A sudden headache made its way into my head.
"Welcome! How can I help you" the man behind the cashier asked.
"Do you have any cakes with 'congratulations' on it?" I asked, trying to look him in the eyes as my vision got a little blurry. I blinked a few times and tried to focus, not noticing the other man spoke until he looked at me expectingly.
"I-I'm sorry could you repeat that?" I stuttered.
"What flavour would you like, and for how many?" He asked, slightly annoyed but still smiling.
"Uhm, chocolate please for about uhhm- I'm w-with 7 people" I thought for a moment. The guy went to the back and returned with a small cake. He showed it to me and I nodded in approval, dizziness coming over me for a second as I fought to keep my balance. I saw the mans mouth move and assumed he was saying the price on the register. I handed it to him silently, and after that grabbed the change and the cake.
"Thank you" I smiled slightly and stumbled out of the shop.
While I walked back, my vision got hazier and hazier, the world returned to spinning. I knew I was stumbling around, and it must've looked like I was drunk. I tried my best not to let the cake fall from my shaking hands.
"Watch it!" A shout came from besides my ear, to which I flinched away.
"I-I'm 'orry" I panted in a broken Korean.
"Are you alright?" The person asked in a softer tone.
"Y-yes, s'rry" I stumbled away from them and returned to walking up the street.
"You sure?" Came another shout, and at that moment my knees gave out. My whole body propelled forward and my head hit the ground hard.
"Shit!" The shout sounded as if it was far away, even when the person was right besides me. I blinked slowly, de cake I had bought was staring back at me mockingly. I had dropped it.
"Kid! Are you okay?" The person rolled me on my back. I didn't have enough energy to even move or muster anything to say.
"Hold on I'm calling an ambulance!" More blurry outlines appeared in my vision, I was suddenly surrounded by people and it felt claustrophobic. But soon enough everything was slowly fading to black.
