She lay her head on the cool windowsill as she gazed out into the dark sky, lit up with tiny, bright lights. She was fascinated.
Her dark brown skin glowed in the moonlight as the cool wind blew. Stray strands of her braided hair flew about in the cool wind, but she didn't bother to fix them. She was fine like this. At peace, burdenless.
Oh, how she wish she could reach up and capture a star of her own. To have it there beside her on her mahogany colored nightstand in a small mason jar, lighting up her small, cozy room. She knew stars weren't small, but if she could shrink one just a bit, she'd be content.
How she wish she could fly up to the sky and escape reality. To forget all of her woes, her troubles, and most of all - love.
Love, she didn't think very fondly of. She didn't want to feel it at all, in fear of getting hurt. She'd seen it before with her mother, she surely didn't want to experience the same. Love was an excuse to break ones heart and she didn't want to face that reality.
Because if that really was reality, then she wasn't interested.
