She kissed him. She never knew his lips would be so soft and warm. Her stomach exploded with butterflies as he pulled her closer, seeming to forget their little dispute. Lorraine never felt anything like this, she didn't want to forget this feeling.
This feeling of being able to be with someone you care about. This feeling of loving someone and being able to express that love to them, and them seeming to accept it without hesitation. Lorraine believed that Dominic had feelings for her and there was a spark of hope ignited deep inside of her heart.
They both pulled away, stunned and speechless. "Dominic," she spoke softly, pressing her forehead against his. "Do you... do you feel anything for me?" She asked.
He stood silently, closing his eyes momentarily. She peered at him through her lashes and felt her heart sink, she already knew the answer. "Lorraine, I'm sorry," he began. Her heart was instantly crushed. She knew it. That small spark of hope was gone.
"It's okay," she whispered, pulling away from his warmth completely. "It's okay," the girl spoke once more, though it was more for her than him. "I-I'll leave now." And she was off, giving him no time to explain. Yet he didn't even bother chasing after her. She'd give him space, maybe for a few days.
But days turned into weeks. Weeks, to months. And months, well, to years.
