He saw her approaching him. He didn't say anything, just stared back with his worn, puffy eyes. The boy didn't bother to wipe his tear-stained cheeks, neither did he care. She probably heard him crying anyway. There wasn't much use in trying to cover it up.
"What are you doing here?" The mysterious girl asked once she reached him. Shouldn't he be asking her instead? He looked up into a pair of dark brown eyes, the moonlight illuminating her body just the slightest. She frowned.
"Nothing," he croaked. She arched an eyebrow, seeming to not believe him. She shook her head. Of course she wouldn't believe you, Dominic, he thought.
The girl sighed and smiled a sad smile, placing a hand on his shoulder as she stared intently at him, her eyes seeming to soften the slightest. "One day, it won't hurt anymore, okay?" She reassured quietly.
"W-what?" He questioned, dumbfounded. He hadn't heard her, of course. They both stood there, staring closely at each other. With a shake of her head, the girl walked off, leaving him puzzled.
He didn't really know why, but he already missed the presence of her; the presence of someone else.
