"Come out, I'm here", Jacob texted me on Monday morning.
"Come in, I'm not ready yet", I answered and put my phone on the kitchen worktop.
I could hear how the doorknob got turned around and the door got opened.
"Coffee?", I asked when he came into the kitchen. He nodded and sat on the bar stool so we were facing each other.
"I'm not ready yet", I said, "to go to school. I'm going to stay home okay?"
"Take your bag and let us drive. You had the whole weekend, don't you dare to use the jetlag excuse."
"But-"
"No but. I don't want to school eighter, who does on a Monday? But we are still going."
I sighed annoyed and took my coffee and my bag and followed Jacob outside.
"You are worse than my father", I said offended and put the seatbelt on.
"I can live with that" Not a second later he hit the road.
"When will you go to the lawyer?", he asked me.
"Sometime next week I think", I answered.
"Is Maxim coming with you?"
"I don't know. We haven't talked much since we are back"
"Really?"
"Yeah"
"Why?"
"Because he hadn't text me and I didn't want to annoy him and to seem pushy.", I said.
"So you were making out for two weeks straight but you can't talk to each other. Do I have to understand it?" Now when he spoke it out it seriously sounded stupid.
Jake parked at his parking, well it wasn't his lot actually but he was always parking here and nobody did besides him so it was technically his, and we left the car. He gave me my back which was laying on the back seat and we both went over to the school building and entered it.
"Do you think he will say hi to me?", I asked him.
"Why wouldn't he?"
"I don't know. I just feel like he wouldn't do it", I admitted and Jake rolled his eyes.
At my locker, Jake stayed, like always, next to me and waited for me to take my stuff for the lessons out. Suddenly some guys and girls came over to me, they were all one or two grades below us
"Is it really true?"
"Did you almost died?"
"Did the rope actually rip apart?", they were asking this and many more question all at the same time. I was overwhelmed and didn't know what to say.
"Fuck off. All of you", Jake said. "Now!"
"Thank you", I said when they finally left.
"It's crazy that the whole school already knows it"
"Just ignore them and don't pay attention to it.", Jake suggested. "Your question will be answered now", he said while I threw my math book into my bag.
"What?", I asked irritated and noticed that Maxim was walking down the hallway.
"Hey bro", Max said to Jake and made with him this typical weird handshake, that guys were always doing.
Max came to me and supported his hand right next to my head at the locker.
"Hey babe", he said smiling and kissed me. EXPLOSION IN MY BODY.
"Hey", I said smirking. My face was probably bright red, like in every possible situation in my life, too, because I felt like there was a fire going through my whole body.
"What was that?", Max asked me. I guessed he noticed the girls and guys which were here right before he came.
"The whole school already knows about our accident in Paris. They asked me if it was true or not", I explained and looked unobtrusive at his bandaged hand.
"Dumbasses", he said and closed my locker for me.
"Where do you have now?", Jake asked us.
"Down the hall"
"Okay, my next class is upstairs. See you at the break"
"Yeah bye", I said and he left and we made our way to our classroom.
I could feel how Max took my hand and interlaced his fingers with mine. I looked up to him smiling and enjoyed it.
"How's your hand?", I asked him.
"Still attached to my arm"
"That's great to hear", I laughed.
On our way to the classroom, I couldn't ignore the surprised and some jealous glances from almost every one of the lower grades. And when we walked past them they started to whisper and stuff. I felt like the attraction of the year. Our class was pretty much used to us being together. So they ignored us when we entered the room and walked to our table.
"I literally could've spent two more weeks without all of them", he said after we sat down."You can go outside already, I have to pee", I said when the break started.
"Alright"
I walked into the surprising empty bathroom and went into the first stall. I could hear how some girls came into the bathroom. They were talking. Without making a noise I tried to hear what exactly they were saying since it was obviously about me.
"They kissed! I swear they did", the one said.
"As if! He doesn't have any relationships. He probably kissed her on the cheek or something. Like as a greeting."
"Even if I'm wearing glasses doesn't mean I'm blind. And Lina said they were holding hands"
"Dude, we are talking about Max. The Max. I mean have you seen him? And have you seen her?"
"Yes of course I mean she's-"
I walked out of the cabin. Both fell silent immediately and their faces turned vermeil at first and then white. Without saying anything I just stepped in between them and washed my hands.
"The next time, don't talk that loud, it could get really uncomfortable for you", I suggested and winked at them before I left the room. I went outside where Max and Jake, who were talking to each other, were already waiting for me.Hope you like it xx
