My arms dropped and I stepped back. I was watching him. The injuries on his lip and his eyebrows were just scratches and weren't worth mentioning. It calmed me because it meant that he wasn't hurt seriously. He was still quiet and this waiting almost killed me. He was really believing that everything was his fault what happened to his parents and Dan. That's why he built that wall so he couldn't feel the pain of losing someone again. He was afraid that something will happen to me, that he will lose me if we'll be together. Those great misfortunes turned some switches in his head so he was sure that he was a bad human. But it wasn't his fault in any shape or form. Those accidents happened and he couldn't have changed that. Even though I left it up to him, I knew that even if he'd decide to go separate ways, I'd still be there for him. Exactly like I was there when the call from the police department came. Between us was something that went beyond a normal relationship. No matter what will happen to us, this bond between us will always be the same.
I was on the verge of saying goodbye to him when he suddenly looked up again and looked deep into my eyes. Then, not even a second later he stepped closer to me so his face was only an inch away from mine. He put his arm around my waist and pulled me closer abruptly, the other hand he buried in my hair and kissed me finally.
The kiss was intense and passionate. It felt like he was about to die of thirst and I was the only one who could satisfy his thirst. At this moment there were no problems or fights or other people. There were only us. Maxim and I. Everything became indistinct. As if we were in a different world.
"Baby!", he whispered against my lips and softly stroke over my cheek with his thumb. He placed a feather-light kiss on my lips. This kiss was different from the others. It was more emotional and meaningful than ever.
"Looks like you made a choice.", I said when he looked at me again. I couldn't stop a smile. On his face, finally, appeared one, too.
"You're taking my confidence.", he admitted quietly.
"What?", I asked surprised.
"In your presence, I feel like a little boy again, who is shy and saying stupid things. I can't think straight anymore. You are taking my confidence away."
"But how? What am I doing?"
"The way you see me. Nobody ever treated me the way you do. Oh fuck, I sound like those guys in gross, cliche love movies", he said and laughed, "but it's true. I don't know how exactly you are doing it but you are making me crazy!", he looked down into my eyes and gave me a soft kiss on my forehead.
"We should go back again. Or your father will kill me."
"Yeah probably.", I said and laughed. He let me go and we set off. I could feel him taking my hand and interlace our fingers.
"Is everything fine between us?", I asked him.
"I hope so!", he answered and stroke over my hand with his thumb. This answer made me feel warm inside."How do you know about Mia? That we made up again."
"I saw you. You three to be exact. I just can't understand how you could forgive her so easily."
"You know, there are situations sometimes, in which you have to look forward and not back all the time. I needed my best friend at this moment."
"That confirms one more time that you have a soul that is way too good."
I didn't say anything. It wasn't true. I wasn't better than anyone else.
"The exams will start tomorrow. You weren't there the past weeks. Do you think you'll manage it?"
"Of course I'll manage it! What do you think I spent the last weeks with? I was studying for hours!"
"As if you were studying!", I alleged.
"I swear. I didn't expect it myself, to be honest, but I couldn't stare at the wall any longer and be depressed." Not with all the will in the world, I couldn't imagine him sitting at a desk surrounded by books.
"Why didn't you just came to school?" From the corner of my eye, I could see him looking down at me.
"You would've been there." I looked at him with an indefinable look and didn't know what I should think. "I felt like shit because I hurt you.", he explained.
"You could've come anyway. I wouldn't have said anything."
"Yeah, I know.""And now explain to me please what happened at the bar and how you could be so careless. I mean I got you out of jail!"
"Another time. Now you have to go to bed! School's tomorrow!", he said and smirked. We arrived an were in my driveway already. I didn't know what time it was since I've lost any track of time.
"I'll pick you up tomorrow morning."
"No", I declined and he looked at me kind of disappointed. "I'll drive my own car."
"Your own?", he asked confused.
"My dad got me a car. For my birthday.", I told him excited.
"Awesome! Your father is awesome!", he seemed impressed. "Alright. We'll see each other at school then."
"Yes.", I agreed and let his hand go. "I have to go." I took off his jacket and gave it to him. He took it and came down to kiss me. It was a light, soft kiss.
"Goodnight, babe.", he said quietly.
"Goodnight, Max.", I responded and smiled. I turned around and walked to the door. Max waited until I went inside before he got into his car and drove away. When I entered the living room I saw my father sitting on a couch reading.
"Is everything alright?", he asked me and looked up.
"Everything's perfect!", I assured, bowed down and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "I'm going to bed. Goodnight, dad!"
"Goodnight, sunshine!", he answered smiling although a bit confused.
I went into my room and the first thing I did was freeing my feet from the heels. Then I took off the dress, put on a shirt and some pyjama shorts. I put my hair into a bun and took off my make up. Even though I was anything but tired I managed it quite fast to fall asleep. The wind whipped against the trees and the rain pelted directly on my cheeks but I wasn't getting wet. It was unusually cold for Miami. I was on a glade. But it was gritty and scary. In front of me was an old, rusty swing which was swaying in the wind. Almost automatically my feet walked over to the swing. I sat on it and gazed into the distance. Out of nowhere, a woman was standing right in front of me. She was beautiful. Her hair was laying in swinging long waves on her shoulders. She was at most in her early 30s. Her eyes, which seemed oddly familiar, were bright grey and radiated intelligence.
"Wonderful day, isn't it?", she asked smiling and sat down on the swing next to me. I looked at her confused. But then I noticed the changes around me. The gritty and scary glade was beaming with magic suddenly. The sun was shining beautifully on the meadow. The flowers were blossoming, everything was bright and pleasantly warm.
"Yes!", I answered and was amazed by the beauty of this glade and this woman. But who was she? I've never seen her in my life and yet she seemed so familiar.
"Isn't is insane how something can change in just one moment. Before it was all dark and lost and now a breath later it seems as if one found the meaning of life again."
"Insane!", I repeated after her.
"Do you know why it changed so quickly?", she asked me.
"No."
"Because of you. You changed everything for the better."
"What?" Instead of answering she got off the swing and kneeled down in front of me. She put her warm hand on my cheek and looked at me gently.
"Hold on tight to his heart, Veronica! It is the most important thing he owns."
"Who? Who's heart?", I begged desperately for answers.
"Say to him, that we are fine and that nothing that happened was his fault!", she asked me and before I could say or do anything she was already gone.My alarm rang and woke me up. I rubbed my eyes and sat up. What kind of dream was that and who was that woman?
I hope you like it! Thank you for all your reads, votes and comments xx
