"Lunch is here!", Jade screamed when we got back to the studio. She put the bags on the table and took out the food. A few minutes later the first ones came and sat down at the table. I took out my phone because it was vibrating. It was a message from Pauline in our class chat. What did she want again? I opened the chat and read the message. My blood froze and my heart stopped. That could not happen. Not now. At that moment I was overjoyed that Maxim had been so stubborn and didn't want to be in the chat at all. So I did not have to tell him.
"You all right, honey? You look like you saw a ghost.", I heard Jade say that brought me back to reality.
"Yes, yes, everything's fine!", I assured her and smiled at her. She returned my smile and continued to unpack the food. I turned off my phone and stuffed it in my pocket and tried not to think about it anymore. When I removed the aluminum foil from the dishes I felt two arms being put around my waist. I smiled and turned to him.
"Hey, you!", he smirked.
"Hey, you", I replied, "how's the shooting going?"
"Good. Good. Got a few hours and outfits ahead of me."
"Do you have fun?"
"I love it! You gotta try it sometime.", he sais.
"A shooting?", I asked surprised.
"Yeah. I'm sure you'd kill it."
"No. Absolutely not. I'd rather leave the spotlight to you."
"I think you should try it.", it now came from Jade. She sat on the chair next to us and stuffed a fork with noodles in her mouth.
"Sure, then Sarah would come and rip my head off in front of the camera!" Unlike Maxim, Jade laughed.
"What's she got to do with it?", Maxim asked.
"God, you' re really fucking blind!", Jade sighed and shook her head as she chewed on her food. Maxim let me go and sat down on a free chair. I sat next to him and sat between Maxim and Jade.
"Why am I blind now?" I had to smile because of his naivety.
"Because she's in love with you, you idiot!", Jade opened his eyes. He looked at her confused and then looked at me. I nodded and shrugged my shoulders as I had told him before.
"As if. She's not in love with me. Besides, she is older than me. And she is Sarah.", he tried to talk his way out.
"She's been crazy about you since the first moment she saw you. I saw her look when she saw your pictures for the first time. And the first thing she asked you after you introduced yourself was whether you had a girlfriend. Can you remember what you said?", Jade asked him. Luckily she had lowered her voice because I didn't want drama to develop here. And besides, as much as I couldn't stand her, I didn't want to expose Sarah. On Jade's question, Maxim shook his head.
"Dude, I was high almost constantly at the time. I can hardly remember anything, especially not what I said." I had to swallow deep when he said it. How much must he have smoked that he didn't remember anything?
"That was before we were together. I don't do that so often anymore.", Maxim assured me and reached for my hand under the table.
"It's fine. Don't worry about it.", I said and smiled. I had had a shock in the first moment that he seemed to be stoned all the time but it didn't really bother me. Of course, I was glad that his consumption had decreased considerably, but even if I had something against it, I wouldn't be able to say anything, because I had no right to do so. After all, it was his life and his decision.
"What did he answer?", I asked Jade. Meanwhile, he let go of my hand. Maxim took a plate and piled pasta and other stuff on it. I turned back to Jade and waited for her to answer.
"He said I quote: I have no relationship. Generally not." Generally not.
"I said that?", he asked and scratched his head. I wondered how our relationship had been at that time or rather how his attitude to our relationship had been back then.
"Yeah, that's what you said. Now it makes sense why Sarah hates you so much.", Jade said, pointing the fork at me. Then she took the fork and skewered herself some noodles to push it afterward into her mouth.
"In what way?", I asked. She chewed fast and swallowed the food.
"Well. From the beginning, Sarah was into him. But he didn't want anything from her, because he has no relationships", Generally not, "but she has been trying to get him, but in vain. Then, after a while, she resigned herself to the fact that he and she would never become anything. And suddenly she finds out that he is in a relationship after all." It made sense. I had what she wanted but couldn't have.
"And with someone as young and pretty as you, that makes her furious.", she added, and I didn't know what to answer. I was probably already bright red, so I took my eyes off her and looked at my hands which were folded in my lap.
"Did I say something wrong?", Jade asked and sounded even kind of worried.
"No, she just can't handle compliments.", Max answered chewing.

"How long does a shooting like this usually take?" I changed the subject.
"It depends on what you shoot for," said Jade.
"A cover shoot usually lasts 2-3 hours, if they are extravagant up to 5 hours. ASOS campaigns or GFN or SikSilk, it usually takes all day."
"All day?"
"Yes, changing outfits takes the most time and-"
"Jade!" someone shouted, so Jade was distracted and couldn't finish.
"Eat something," Maxim said quietly in my ear after a while.
"I am not hungry."
"You weren't hungry the last few days. You haven't eaten anything yesterday and nothing this morning." He looked at me worried. "In general, you've been having very little food lately. You have lost a lot of weight." I had noticed that myself. But it wasn't because I wanted to lose weight or go on a diet, I just had way too much stress lately. The exams, the fight with Mia and Jacob, my mother and I still didn't talk to each other and now this news came...
Max took his fork and skewered some noodles and held them in front of my face. "Eat this!" I rolled my eyes, took the fork out of his hand and ate the noodles.
"Satisfied? I asked him and put the fork down.
"No. Here", he shoved his plate in front of me, "eat this. Then I'll be satisfied."
"You've got all day in front of you, you haven't eaten this morning either. You have to eat yourself."
"I'm not hungry anymore.", he lied. I knew he was definitely still hungry because his plate was almost full.
"What do you say I eat one and you eat the other half? Okay?", I suggested. At first he looked at me skeptically, but finally, he agreed.
"Five minutes everyone, then back to work.", Jade shouted after some time. All the time Maxim watched me and forced me with his eyes to eat everything from my half so that not a single crumb would remain. In the end, he didn't have time to eat properly. He swallowed the food in a few seconds and flushed it down with water. It was really annoying that he paid more attention to me than to himself, after all, I was old enough to know myself when and how much I should eat. But somehow it was sweet that he was worried. That only proved even more that I meant something to him. Maxim stuffed the last noodles in his mouth, chewed them and swallowed them quickly.
"Maxim!", Jade called. "Back to work!"
"Coming!", he shouted back and gave me a quick kiss on the mouth. After that, he went to the stand with the outfits and started to change. Then the one girl hit him on the hands. "Hands off! I get paid for it. You just have to look good!" Maxim laughed and the make-up artist powdered his face. He looked at me and winked at me. Maxim enjoyed being the center of attention in all trains. He loved it and was exactly in his element. Nevertheless, it was strange to see him like that, he belonged here. He belonged in the spotlight, where he was admired and photographed. I was not.
