"I don't think I'm ever going to be able to warm up," Harper shivered in warm, dry clothes wrapped in a thick blanket. "I fucking hate water."

"Hate is a rather strong word," Felix teased.

"Yeah? Well I'm not one to use words that I don't know the meaning to," Harper chugged his hot tea. "I hate it."

Felix only smirked, sipping on the same flavor of tea.

"Here you go, Em," Mason sat across from me, breaking my attention from the other two men, and slid a cup of warm hot chocolate towards me.

"Thank you," I clutched one of his cold hands, squeezing it.

"I might have to go take another shower," Harper admitted.

Felix smirked once more. "You'll survive."

As the two began to bicker about whether or not taking a second shower was a good idea, I found my focus on Mason. He returned my curious gaze with his usual cool one, the hazel of his eyes a tantalizing picture of a piece of the universe. I released his hand, yet slowly and awkwardly because I really didn't want to do it.

"So where are we going from here?" Felix demanded.

"We'll wait for Menendez's next move," Mason cleared his throat.

Felix tilted his head. "So he can hand you your ass again? Your tactics of waiting on him aren't working, Mason. You need to take the lead and attack while he is planning."

"You don't think I have?" Mason was obviously annoyed, yet he hid it well from Felix. "The last time we attacked first, Emma was taken away from us. I'm not doing that again."

His hazel gaze merely glanced in my direction and I felt my cheeks heat up. Knowing my absence brought him pain made my heart flutter; there wasn't a doubt he saw me the way I wanted to see him. I looked away and towards Felix.

"You have no say on how to run this team, Felix," I spoke calmly, not glancing away from the cold gaze Felix returned. "It's up to Mason."

"Oh, so now that you're back with your saviors, you take their side within two minutes?" Felix hissed. "And I thought I'd trained you better."

"Felix," I gasped as he got up and started for the door.

"Let him cool down," Harper warned. "He's going through a lot."

"Whatever," I shrugged.

"Seriously," Harper touched my shoulder. "Don't you remember how your life turned upside-down when we found you? You always had space to yourself and it helped. Felix has known Menendez like a father and he needs to be left alone right now."

I sighed. "You're right."

"Go make yourself comfortable," Mason suggested.

I sighed again and nodded, getting up from the cafeteria table.

It took me an hour to shower, dry myself, change and fix up my hair. I took my time, scrubbing every crevice, combing every knot. I allowed the warm water of the shower to numb the scratches and cuts from the violent river run. It was a long, soothing moment and I cherished it as if it were the final drop of water on an island.
