Thylane

"Thylane! Are you ready?" My mother called out to me. She was waiting outside my bedroom. "Hurry up or you are going to be late on your own engagement party." She whined. I imagined her scrunching her eyebrows together and pouting her blood painted lips behind my closed doors.

"Done." I said as soon as my feet slipped inside my diamond studded stilettos. I was wearing a cream colored Valentino dress that fell just above my knee. It had long sleeves that narrowed at the wrist. It was nothing but conservative but the delicate flower embroidery made it very sophisticated. It's been a week since Luca brought me to his estate and introduced me to his family. It has also been a week since he knelt down on his knee and gave me the diamond ring that is now on my ring finger. Of course, I did say yes. With Luca kneeling down and looking up at me with that gorgeous face of him, it was hard to say no. I was surprised to see how Luca and I's relationship had changed for the past week. We hardly had a fight and he was nothing but nice to me this past week. It was a nice change. Mom has been inviting Luca over for dinner. It was a little bit awkward since I am not used to having dinner with someone other than my family in our house, not to mention almost everyday. Sometimes, it was the other way around. Instead of my mom inviting Luca over to dinner, I was the one being invited by Luca's mom. It's cute but it still awkward but there's been an improvement and that's something.

With a last glance at the mirror, I sashayed out of my room and came face to face with my mother.

"Darling, you grew up so fast and so beautiful." She said, her eyes glistening with tears. I sighed and touched her hand.

"Mom, save that tears when I get married." In the far future. I wanted to add.

"You're right." She said as she dabbed a handkerchief on her eyes. "Let's go. You're fiancé has been waiting for you downstairs.

My mother was right. Luca has been waiting for me downstairs. He looked dashing with his burgundy colored suit that matched my lipstick and eyeshadow and he paired it with a cream colored tie. His hair was neatly gelled back and his face was clean shaven. He smiled when he saw me approaching him.

He eyed my outfit and I felt the intensity of his stare. His smile widen and he took a step towards me.

"Slap me." My eyebrows shot up questioningly.

"And why would I do that?" I asked, raising an eyebrow in amusement.

"Because I think I'm dreaming." He said as he held my hand and pressed it to his lips. "You have no idea how beautiful you look tonight."

I laughed sarcastically. "Nice joke. Well, you clean up nicely as well."

"Shall we go?" He asked as he offered his arm, bending his elbows. I smiled towards him and hooked my arms in his.

....

The guests were already waiting for us when we arrived. My arms was stilled hooked to Luca's as I scanned the place when I saw a familiar head. Oliver. I missed that idiot. I haven't seen him for weeks.

"Everyone, let's all welcome Mr. Luca Giardini and the future Mrs. Giardini, Ms. Thylane Alexandra Marie Ferragni." Luca's dad, who was holding a microphone stood on the stage and welcomed us. Rounds of clapping followed suit as we headed towards the stage. Luca and I said a brief speech, thanking everyone for coming. After our little speech, the party begun and we took time in rounding the tables to meet Luca's relatives and mine as well. They congratulated us for our engagement. I smiled the whole time that my mouth felt like it's gotten a little bit bigger. The music also started playing a while ago and the dance floor was already flooded with dancers. The music was something that is played on a club so people were doing dancing freely. I wonder who chose that music but nonetheless, the people were enjoying.
