The metallic smell of blood reached my nose and made my whole body bristled. Blood for blood. That was the rule of wolves. I lashed out at Ash's killer. I could feel nothing but the want to kill, to avenge. I could hear nothing but replays of Ash's voice. I didn't notice the chain choking me or the sounds of rushing feet or as the Arl appeared or his sharp words that he spoke to Eric in. Something in me twisted and changed. My vision started to black and my body felt like stone. I faltered then fell to the ground, my lungs screaming for the breath i denied them. 'Sleep now wolf, i have a job for you when the morrow comes' the voice snaked in my mind, forcing me into unconsciousness.
As my body slept, the voice told me what was to be done when i woke and linked my mind to the other wolves he held in the cells around me. i was the luna of this pack and we didn't need an alpha, my mate had died and i wouldn't take another. there where three females and two males under my command. All of them had been here longer than me, some since they were pups and now knew little of the world outside their chamber's walls. i knew everything they knew and i shared my knowledge with them. We where a pack now, ready to follow the luna, to follow me.
Through their minds and eyes, I saw the figures, mere shadows as they past the torches burning on the walls and the cells. The sound of their boots were accompanied by the sound of something heavy being dragged behind them. Me. Soon they would open the cells. I commanded the other wolves not to attack, just follow. They were uneasy at order, but a the cell doors opened, they inched out into the hall. Unlike me they weren't bound by chains, but bound by fear and submission.
I watched my pack through the eyes of a she-wolf named Zaracia. She was a southern lands hunter in a large pack, before the Arl's men came. They only found her a suitable candidate out of the pack. She had had a mate and her first litter of pups. Now they were all a pile of ashs and bones on a hillside. I let her feel my sympathy and let her know that her time for vengeance would come, as it would for all of the wolves of my new pack.
They were corralled out of the fort and under the fading cover of darkness, they followed a man on a horse. My limp body was tied to a horse behind the man. Both of the animals where fighting at the bit to get away and throw me off. I withdrew to my unconscious self, waiting for the forced sleep to lift.
After hours of waiting, I finally awoke in a forest, surrounded by my pack. The human and horses were gone. It was time for us to discover an appropriate place for the hunt. Zaracia ran close to me and the others in the pack steamed out behind us in order according to rank, they had decided that amongst themselves and they had good judgment.
We ran silently and swiftly through the close growing trees. I led them to a clearing with thick trees and shrubs growing at the edges. It would fit the plan perfectly. the pack stayed around the clearing at my order as I ran in the direction we had come, covering tracks with old branches and sweeping at the tracks. They could not know we had come this way.
Once satisfied, I hid at the edge of the forest, waiting for the first sign of the hunting party. The Arl had promised a chance for revenge, and I had taken it. I wished revenge on more than one being. if the chance arose I would take him down as quickly as the murderer. I was in the fresh torment of the Arl and his underlinings that had taken the life of my mate as well as my reason of being, but members of my new formed pack had suffered terribly under him for years. They were my new reason to fight. Another reason to end the life of Arl Karen.

From one of the large colour paned windows in the ceremonial hall, I watched for any signs of a returning messenger from the king. The wolf had sent a mental message that her pack were ready and waiting in the forest and had given me directions to the whereabouts of the planned ambush. It had been hours since the messenger had rode off for the capital, if the blasted peasant didn't get lost, he would've about reached the castle by now. Damned fool may have ridden out of sight and could be sleeping under a tree for all I knew.
Cursing, I walked out of the decorative hall. It was pretty, but utterly useless, like that white she-wolf of mine. It is funny how easily I could convince her that I was her mate. Narrain blood had it's uses. it had given me this power, allowed me to keep them out of the northern forest while I collected wolves and let me play with their 'mating'. I smiled to myself as I stepped out of the hall, the world was at my fingertips and nothing could stop me.
