I helped Ash haul the bundle of meat to the front of the smaller building that he had called the 'house' were they ate, slept and did other numerous things in. He untied the knotted leather that connected me to the bundle, leaving the leather strip from before on me, to my annoyance. I stepped out of the leather and walked a little way off, patiently waiting for him. He untied the leather binding him to the bundle and got his twin half brothers to help him untie and place some of the meat inside. I laid down and watched as they smoked some of the meat and buried the rest in a create, packed with snow.

A some point I drifted to sleep, still half aware of what was going on around me. I felt someone sot next to me and begin to stroke my fur, recognised his scent and lifted my head looking at him. Coal coloured hair framed his slightly angled face and his light amber eyes lightly reflected the flickering flames, that they had made outside for the meat. His ears where slightly longer than the others that he refereed to as humans and unlike theirs, his ear pointed at the end.

I stared at him for awhile, and he didn't seem to mind, in fact he seemed to be taking in my appearance. Our eyes locked and I tilted my head slightly, his cheeks coloured. I sniffed his face, the colour was not from a substance but rather something that his body had produced in reaction to any unfamiliar emotion. Confused I laid my head back on my paws and looked at the fire. His kind was so confusing.

After a length of time he rose and walked into the house looking back at me, waiting for me to follow. I stretched and followed him through the house, it was daunting not being able to see the sky or the millions of stars. He laid down on a hide supported by a wooden frame and I walked over to am opening in the wall that showed the sky and made myself comfortable.

The next few days I learnt much about Ash's way of life and his people and he learnt much about mine. He told me they have people like our alphas but their people call they king and queen and they are royalty or monarchs. I helped him around his 'farm' where he raised cattle for meat and milk. Their way of life was so different to the ways of wolves.

Ash told me that today we would be going into the town called Droste to sell things, I still do not understand what purpose this 'money'served and why so many people would live together in one place. He had just told me that they were like am ants nest, each person has their own role to perform.

I now sat watching him and his half brothers harnessing the big dappled gray horse and load the cart. They placed three small crates of salted vegetables and dried meat in the cart before the twins went to care for the herd of cattle. Ash got out a bay horse and began to saddle it. I dashed into his room and carefully collected them in my teeth.

He was about to walk into the house when I came out and smiled- it was a friendly gesture with his people, with mine it was threat but I was getting used to it. Over the days I had spent with Ash, the other humans that lived with him had tried to pet me, his father now wore a bandage on his right hand. He had thought that he was higher rank to me then the others, Ash had remained silent and had had a twinkle in his eye. The father had reached down, aiming to pat my head, I bit into his hand, only biting hard enough to draw blood.

I allowed Ash's sister to pat me, she was kind and Ash deemed her worthy of his trust, so I would too. She was still wary of me, which I was glad of, and would place her hand in front of me to ask permission to pet me. It was a strange action but I accepted it and licked her hand as yes and lightly growled for no.
