Shadow
I looked back at the forest behind me as the last light of the day held on to the old branches. Soon the night would envelope the trees in darkness. I closed my eyes and again tried to remember who I was. The memories of the other wolves began to shift and disappear. The Arl was up to something, and it was effecting my pack. Bad move. If the chance arose I would put end to the suffering and torment he caused my pack members. It would be a pleasure watching the life drain from him. For now I would listen to him, but once I got one vengeance I would follow through with the other, for my pack and myself.
I could feel the restlessness of my pack and I allowed them to run, but they were it leave no tracks of their presence near the clearing. The feel of freedom coursed through the vains of every wolf, as did the great feeling of release in their muscles that hadn't been used in too long. All but I ran, one needed to keep in contact with the Arl's mind, the others where too far for him to reach anymore and that was how it would stay until the ambush. I had discovered how to shield my mind from others and shielded my link to the pack and most of my own mind from the Arl.
A movement with a trail of dust in the twilight caught my eye. I watched as a lone rider galloped towards the outline of the castle. I felt for the Arl's mind and informed him of the rider. "It is the messenger returning from the capital," I heard the rough voice of the Arl enter my mind, "he is of no importance to you." I cut the link between us. I had started to forget things in the short time he had access to my mind. Anger filled me anew as I stalked back into the forest. All the light that had desperately been clinging to the ancient trees had been overcome by the dark of night. The trees where like the members of my pack with the Arl bearing down on them, but unlike the sun, I wouldn't lay down and watch the light of their freedom and life dwindle. I would be there to stand in-between them and the dark and I would not let him have them!

Arl Karen
the pieces where falling perfectly into place. The king would arrive within a short time. I slumped into a chair close to the fire. My white wolf lay at my right side. She was a stupid self centred thing that lust for power, she was the perfect mate for me and had kept the Narrian forest packs busy, leading a pack I had made years ago. Snow spoke much about the annoyance of her brother's pack and how they where an increasing threat. pitiful things that meant nothing to me. With the crown so close in reach, the happenings in the forest seemed to small to need my attendance. The white wolf lifted her head and stared towards the door, quietly snarling. The messenger boy had finally come to me to bring the news of the king's acceptance of my invitation.
"Save your breath, I already know the king is on his way. Now leave!" My voice overpowered his before he could begin. He hesitated, confused and frozen for a moment. Snow growled deeply and leapt towards him, missing him. Just. He scrambled out of the door like a scared rabbit. I smiled to myself, grabbing the goblet of wine from the table, a stuffed Karrna, the king to be precise, made a great feature in the study. I sighed contently think about how easy King Lambert was to control and the pleasure I felt culling the scaly beasts. They had payed for denying me their kingdom. At least they had brought me to this kingdom, and Fentor was a prize. It was full health people and had a large army at the king's beck and call, soon to be my army.
Snow walked back to me, claws clicking on the stone, and sat before me. 'Teach me how to change so I can walk beside you as the equal am,' her voice.
'Patience my Snow. Soon, I promise.' I told her, sighing. Wolves had no sense of time is seemed. And yet that black she-wolf does. I was not prepared for that thought and it went through the link. A deep growl split the peaceful silent in the room, there air around me seemed to ripple in waves of jealous anger. 'What black she-wolf!?' Snow was standing in front of me barring her fangs. Stupid mutt.I grabbed the goblet from the table, my hand shook slightly. I turned my attention back to the wolf in front of me. The goblet still in hand, I smashed my fist into the side of the she-wolf's jaw. My strike was precise and powerful. Snow was caught off guard, but even if she had time to brace against the blow the result would be the same. She had been thrown off into the air and slid to a stop a few meters off. A crumpled heap. It disgusted me. She was a broken bundle of white and red fur. I wasn't sure if the red was the wine or blood, it mattered none to me either way. She was a pawn in my game and she would be thrown away once her usefulness expired. All she did was secure was my position as leader of that pack and soon even they would out grow my need.
