Meaning: Everyone's Laughing In Japanese

Elena's POV

I tapped my fingers on my laptop, repeating a beat to one of BTS's songs. I was listening to them because, well, I just was. It did fit the mood right now since I was living in one of the member's houses.

I felt bored, lonely, and a little bit scared because the whole living room was quiet. I was about to sing along to the song when suddenly the doorknob made a sound. Cheyenne must be home, I thought. I got up from the couch and walked over to the door, looking through the peek hole. It wasn't Cheyenne.

I froze when I saw that the members were standing out there, right now, right there. I felt my heart beating faster, panicking inside. Should I open the door?!

"I-I, uh, wah--ah!" I exclaimed, the door opened and I stumbled backward, landing on my stool.

I could feel everyone's eyes on me. I felt embarrassed, nervous, and wanted to hide. I also wished Cheyenne was here.

"Ā...(ouch)" I said quietly, helping myself up but failed.

"Uh, Elena? What happened?" One of the members asked.

I looked up and saw, I think, J-Hope first. I also bet that he was the one who asked. I forced a smile and embarrassingly hid my face to avoid eye contact. For some reason, I felt like crying a little.

"Here, let me help," Jungkook said, walking over to me and supporting me back up to my feet.

"Th-Thanks...," I said quietly to him, still avoiding his gaze.

He nodded back to me and I watched as everyone else came near me to see if I needed more support. I may have been just stumbled back by a simple push from a door, but I don't think I'm that weak.

Once I got back to my feet, I bowed to Jungkook. "Arigatō--I mean, u-uh, um," I stuttered nervously, "g-gamsa?" (Thanks-in Korean)

Everyone went silent, even the clock that ticked annoyingly stopped. I darted my eyes everywhere where the members stood, beginning to become self-conscious. Did I pronounce it badly?

Suddenly, without warning, a burst of laughter went out from all of them. I started to smile and laugh a little too, but I really felt myself wanting to cry. Kim Namjoon approached me and took my hands.

"You're very funny Elena, but just speak English...although," Kim paused for a moment and looked back at the others.

He backed up, and in unison, the boys all shouted, "Sore wa kawaī!!" (That was cute!!-Japanese)

I stayed silent, then slowly began laughing loudly. Such weird pronunciation, I thought.
