"Rosie are you ready to go?" I heard my mum call from downstairs, "we're trying to get to the station early to meet up with your cousins, but at this rate we'll never get there on time!" Her voice got gradually louder as she spoke and I could tell she was a bit stressed. She was always at least a little stressed though, so this was nothing new. It was usually work and sometimes dad.
I brushed my auburn hair one last time in an attempt to get rid of some of the frizz mum had passed down to me before placing my brush in my bag with the rest of my stuff for the school year. Finally I closed my trunk and began to lug it down the stairs, wishing that I was 17 so that I could use magic instead of carrying it down. Unfortunately, my seventeenth birthday was still two years away. After I placed my trunk by the door, I went back up to grab my broom and the cage containing Thalia, my cat (named after the Percy Jackson character if you were wondering) I put her crate and my broom next to my trunk and walked to the kitchen to find Mum and Dad because of course we were still waiting on Hugo.
"Hugh are you coming??" Mum called up the stairs once again, using Hugo's nickname back from when Lily couldn't make the G sound when they were three. They had been best friends since Hugo's birth (Lily was a month and three days older) so Lily's third word, after Mummy and Daddy, had been Hugh and Hugo's third word had been Lil. I guess it just stuck.
"'Mione we have plenty of time" Dad told her. Mum just sighed.
Hugo finally clomped down the stairs, unsurprisingly attempting to carry all of his possessions and school supplies down the stairs in one trip. He dropped it all on the ground at the door and Mum and Dad used magic to help us load the car, which was magically extended like Grandpa's had been. It took us about fifteen minutes to get to the station, but when we arrived it was only half eight and the train didn't leave until nine. We saw the gaggle of redheads that was the Weasley-Potter clan (not including Uncle Harry, James, Albus, Aunt Angelina and... well you get the picture). The Weasley numbers at Hogwarts, though still quite high, were beginning to dwindle since Teddy, Victoire, Dominique, and Molly had graduated. That only left James, Fred and Roxy in seventh year, Albus and I in fifth, Louis and Lucy in fourth, and Hugo and Lily in third. Which of course was still 9 of the 13 so I guess we weren't missing many, but it felt so different without Dom and Molly coming with us this year Teddy and Vic had graduated within the few years that Al and I started but Dom and Molly had just graduated last year.
I made my way over to Al, where he was standing with James, Fred, Roxy and their friend Alice Longbottom. Well, "friend" I guess. We all knew that James and Alice would probably date at some point. She had light brown hair, (a mix of Neville and Hannah's colors of course) and was in Gryffindor with the other three. She was best friends with Roxy and had known our family practically since she was born (but really who didn't? I swear everybody had some obscure connection to my family) I raised my eyebrows at Al in our silent communication and he just shrugged. That meant it didn't seem like anything had happened between Alice and James, but he didn't know for sure. They were standing really close though...
I felt someone come up behind me and cover my eyes. I sighed, "Scorp that's not funny" I told him.
"Who said it was meant to be?" He smirked and pushed his dirty blond hair away from his eyes. I noticed it was getting longer. It suited him.
"Whatever" I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Aww poor wittle Rosie" Al mocked. I stuck my tongue out at him too. "Real mature" he replied.
"Sorry Ro" Scorp said, using his nickname for me. We heard the whistle blow from the Hogwarts Express.
"Looks like it's time to go" Roxy said, "where are we sitting?"
"I have to go to the prefects cabin" Alice told her, "but I'll meet you guys as soon as Damien and I hand out the prefects schedules. Scorpius, Rose, you guys coming?"
"Oh Damien Leavitt is head boy this year?" Molly asked coming up behind us, "you get to live with him right? He's hot. I would've dated him, but I don't go for younger guys"
"Yeah you do Mols" Dom chimed in from next to her, "what about-?"
"Oh shut up that didn't count" Molly said, but the classic Weasley blush crept onto her cheeks. We laughed at her expense, but I could see James scowling out of the corner of my eye. Scorp and I followed Alice to the prefect cabin for the meeting.
