The first month of fifth year went by quickly. Rosie and I had all the same classes so we were as competitive as ever. Al had one class difference since he had decided to take Care of Magical Creatures instead of Arithmancy like Rosie and I. Speaking of, I had decided that there was definitely no "Rosie and I" happening or going to happen. In a romantic sense I mean. I had been attempting to flirt with some of the Slytherin girls for the past month (only some of the nicer ones though, not like Marissa or any of her friends. However, I was pretty sure Marissa was attempting to flirt with ME . *gag) There was only one girl that I could potentially fancy. Her name was Genevieve and she was, surprisingly (considering her delicately conventional beauty) a beater for the Slytherin team. We had met at tryouts and had been talking a lot at practice and during meals. She was pretty enough, with straight blonde hair and big blue eyes, quite smart considering she wasn't a Ravenclaw, and the good type of Slytherin. "Good type of Slytherin" referring to people who are clever, in an inventive and original way, and are hard-workers, not stopping until they get what they want (A/N This is why Augustus is in Slytherin)
"Scor" I heard Rose say as we walked to Transfiguration from Arithmancy. "Can we study for Arithmancy this weekend? There's a test Monday and I really want to pass."
I stared at her pointedly. "Are you kidding me?" I asked, "of course you're going to pass. You're Rose Weasley, top of the class, daughter of the brightest witch of her time Hermione Granger and brace Auror Ron Weasley PLUS you're a Ravenclaw. Of course you'll pass. You always pass."
"Whatever" she stuck her tongue out at me, "and you know I hate it when you do that."
"Do what?" I asked.
"Label me because of my parents" she said "You're not supposed to do that. You're one of the few people who really knows me and you KNOW I hate that. Being compared to them."
"Sorry Ro" I touched her arm in apology, but got her attention to give her the best pouting face I could attempt to muster.
"Scorp stop it!" She slapped my arm. For some reason I loved it when she did that. The only other people she slapped were her family, the people she was closest with... oh her family, right. If she doesn't boy slapped them and me then she probably thought of me as family. A brother. But it was fine. Not a problem. Really. I had Genevieve anyways. Speaking of...
"Sure" I told her, "of course I'll study with you. But I have quidditch practice Saturday and I'm meeting with a friend Sunday so tell me when you're free and I'll make time. Okay?"
"Thanks Scor! You're the best" she gave me a quick hug and walked into transfiguration. I hadn't even realized we were here.
