Chapter XVIII: Back to Normal Reality a Boring Truth

Vivian now back and thinking that it was all a dream except for the fact that she has missed a month of school and her teachers aren't taking any mercy for the orphan girl. Regardless she can't help but feel awkward around Michael after knowing he's the enemy. But Vivian also hates him, she went thru hell with losing Lucifer and pretending or making herself believe that she was going to eventually love Michael and forget Lucifer. But that will never happen love can triumph over everything and anyone especially her new captor can she really overcome her past and look towards the future.

As I began to regain conscience I felt moist grass and as I opened my eyes I realized I wasn't in a bed, but on top of snow. It didn't feel cold but I was afraid, and then I realized I had gotten caught by Michael or one of his friends. So as I looked around the snow covered forest I noticed there was a set of foot prints leading somewhere. I didn't know if I should follow them or stay away from them, but something in my gut told me I should follow them, it was better than sitting there waiting for something else to happen. I followed the foot prints for a short while until it led me straight to Luce's house. The foot prints led up the creaking steps to the door so someone must be inside, and that someone either kidnapped me or saved me. I walked up the creaking steps and as I made it to the front door it suddenly swung open. The gust of wind was strong and I heard the door creak as it opened, "hello...is there someone here?" I felt kind of stupid doing that considering no one lived here, it looked like a dump. As I stepped inside the door slammed shut so hard and loud I thought Michael might have found me. "It's alright Viviana don't be scared," when I turned around to face my captor it wasn't a demon and it wasn't Michael. "Who are you?" he looked at me and another one came out from my room, he led me up the eroding stairs and into the room. Which as I remembered it the bed had been torn apart and it was messy inside, but everything was nice and clean like nothing had happened, I sat at the edge of my bed and looked towards the door expecting Luce to walk in and hug me or slap me to for being so rash. I looked up at my two captors standing in front of me, "who are you?" the one the had scared me spoke. "My name is Gabriel and this guy over here is..." the guy behind stepped forward. "There is no need for you to introduce me Gabriel, I can do it perfectly well my name is Rafael." I sat there shocked I had realized rather quickly that these two were Arch Angles. "Why are you here? What do you want with me?" Gabriel looked at Rafael, "Azrael told us you didn't loose your memories of what happened in Hell with Lucifer." I instantly thought that these two were working with Michael, "don't be scared," I looked at Gabriel when he said that. He just smiled, "I can read your mood," just perfect two Arch Angels that could smell fear. "And I can read your thoughts," Rafael said as he looked at me, that was just perfect now I was dead, Luce would definitely think I'm stupid for getting caught by the enemy. "Who said we were the enemy?" I looked at Rafael, "you aren't the enemy?...then why are you here?" Gabriel laughed, "like I said Azrael called us you know it's not every day we get the honor of protecting the Giver of Life from death and destruction." Wow was I getting popular or what, "thanks...I think but right now my main concern is getting back to Hell and protecting everyone including the Tree of Life." They looked at each other for a second, "I'm sorry your highness but Lucifer made it clear to keep you safe and sound." My eyes started to blur and I could no longer see their faces, "I need to do something?" Gabriel came closer and patted my head, "it's going to be fine we won't let anyone hurt you, and you should know by now that Lucifer doesn't die as quickly as another person would if they were facing the Demon Eater." Gabriel's words calmed me down, "either way you can't just go to Hell and expect everything to be fine, considering the fact that the demon eater has taken control over hell." I looked at Rafael as if wondering if what he was saying was the truth, "Reizel took over Hell over night. Did you not know this? It was the reason Lucifer told us to keep you safe from Michael." Nothing made sense, "why would Michael help Reizel?" that's something both Gabriel and Rafael were thinking about. "They both hate Satan and Lucifer," I looked over to Gabriel, "but it's not only Michael and Reizel...Solomon is there too." When I mentioned Solomon they tensed the atmosphere in the room was too heavy, I could hardly bare it. "You didn't know that Solomon was also involved?" Rafael shook his head slowly he seemed a bit disappointed. "He is our brother...how could he betray God like this?" both of them were so sad, "he had this planned from the beginning." They both looked to be thinking, "but Solomon has been in the choir of the Angels all this time by God's side." I looked at Rafael questioning how that was possible, "there must be a way for him to move around and not get noticed." He nodded and thought about it while Gabriel seemed to have realized something, "the dark cloak...and the shadow of the witches was stolen a couple of month's ago." So that meant that Solomon was using the shadow while Michael used the cloak, "there is something else that bothered me...Azrael lost his wings." Gabriel suddenly turned white as snow he looked sick, "Lucifer was right all along...Michael must have took the dagger while God was sleeping." I wondered about that, "Rayne had the dagger for a while but then Solomon and Michael came and took it back...or so I think since they might need it to cut Lucifer and Satan's wings." Rafael gently patted Gabriel's back as if he was sick and might throw up, "its repeating itself again..." He looked into Rafael's eyes, "I see that, but calm down Gabriel it will be bad if it affects your health again." Gabriel looked like he was about to loose it, "the story is repeating itself again...but how can that be? will another Lucifer descend from Heaven?" Gabriel smiled sadly, "God gave us direct orders to close down the Heavenly gates." After saying that Rafael and Gabriel stood quiet and told me to be quiet, "how did you ditch Michael again?" Rafael looked up to the ceiling expecting something to crash down from above. And it did the ceiling came crashing down, "I didn't expect to see you here brothers." Once the cloud of smoke settled I saw Michael with his white wings expanded wider than the chimney, "Michael...what are you doing here?" he smiled and looked at both of them and out of the corner of his eye he spotted me. "I could say the same thing brothers, what are you doing here and why did you take something that doesn't belong to you?" I could tell that Michael was mad, "STOP! Please stop! I came here on my own accord." I stepped closer and closer to Gabriel and Rafael so I could protect them from whatever attack Michael would throw at them. "So you didn't forget?" he laughed, "I should have known! it was just to good to be true for you to accept me just like that and forget Lucifer." Suddenly a spear materializes and he aims it at me, "Michael stop! this isn't you...you aren't this person you would never hurt anyone you loved." Gabriel stepped forward he was trying to calm him down, "your right I wouldn't hurt anyone I cared about luckily for you brother there is no such person because Lucifer killed her." Michael stabbed Gabriel in the shoulder and he fell back down, "I knew you would betray us one day." Rafael was mad, "I noticed it the day you laughed at the prophecy this girl is mentioned in...your so afraid of her that you wanted to destroy her before her Will is realized." Michael was covering his ears and telling Rafael to shut up, "show me Michael...show me what kind of monster you have become? You say you fear nothing but even I can see thru your lies." When Michael looked at me directly his left eye was completely consumed in darkness and blood, I then noticed Gabriel and Rafael's shocked expressions as they stared at Michael. "Michael you have to stop this before you are consumed by greed and anger." Michael's voice changed, "don't you get it Rafael...I am greed and anger, I live to hate and even hate can be a good thing." Gabriel slowly got up his wound was healing, "lucky for you I didn't use my sword it's already become a sword of Sin it's tainted by blood." Rafael quickly got up, "how dare you taint the Holy blade God bestowed upon you Michael...Lucifer was right you really did fall lower than the depths of Hell." I could tell that Michael was loosing his own identity, "Lucifer said that...how nice of him to think that we are the same." He finally touched the floor and pulled in his wings, "you know all along I regretted what I did...but no one would be able to understand not even my closets of brothers because you can't see what I see." He took slow graceful steps towards us, "you two would never understand me no matter how hard you try and pray...you know the old man will never hear our plea he would rather eradicate our kind and remake them again and again." Michael was right God was torturing them and taunting them, "do you know what it's like to relieve your past over and over again it's a never ending loop...even humans go thru the same pain they are stuck like us." I understood what he meant but I wasn't able to grasp the concept of why he was doing this. As Michael came closer I noticed that in his hand he held the dagger my body quickly moved instinctively in front of Gabriel and Rafael to shield them. After all Michael didn't want to kill me if not he would have done so a long time ago he had so many chances. "What are you doing Vivian?" I stared at the dagger and he advanced closer towards me, "so your worried about them?" I stood quite, "you seriously don't know which is the winning side, but that's to be expected you have such bad taste in men to begin with." He laughed really hard that my ear drums popped, "I won't let you hurt them," I was surprised I even managed to utter those words considering the fact that my lips were trembling. "Oh really...and what do you think I will do to them?" I looked at the dagger and sure enough it was the dagger that was able to cut off an angels wings and forsaken them. "Your going to cut their wings off like you did to Azrael," he laughed again, but his eyes weren't laughing at all. "So you found out about Azrael...guess there's no Angel who isn't willing to help you other than my self and master of course." Slowly but surely I could feel the energy again, "where is your master?" he looked up to the hole in the ceiling and pointed to the sky it was getting darker. "Oh No!...What have you done to our Lord!?" Michael just smiled, "I wouldn't worry about that since he isn't dead and that's all you guys worry about right." I was starting to realize something and of course the puzzle pieces were fitting into place. "This war...this war was never about me but it was about your jealousy towards Lucifer, you were mad at him because God preferred him over you." When I said that Michael slapped me so hard I fell back and landed on Gabriel's chest, "it's ok we will take it from here Vivian." Both of them got up slowly and suddenly I felt the air rush into the room swirling around them, and then the wind dispersed. I saw that both Gabriel and Rafael were wearing a sort of armor and their wings were tucked in. "We are not going to allow you to hurt Vivian or our beloved God." Gabriel took out a harp and began to play while Rafael drew his sword, "well Michael are you just going to stand there or will you fight me." He smiled as if he was thrilled, "if you insist so much to die then I will gladly grant your wish brother, but two against one isn't fair so I'll even out the odds." I stood there and then Rafael followed Michael thru the hole he had made in the ceiling, I noticed that they were clashing. I could feel the power surge in the air it was intense and thick I couldn't breathe, "don't worry Rafael won't kill him." I was positive that Rafael wouldn't hurt Michael but I wasn't so sure about Michael doing the same. All of a sudden a piece of dry wall broke and was about to hit me. When Gabriel pointed the harp at me and the crumbling pieces froze, and then he almost cursed when he looked back up to see Rafael falling from the sky. He suddenly pointed the harp back to Rafael who stopped mid air and flew back up towards Michael, "I wonder what would Saint Miguel say?" Michael laughed, "Miguel will say nothing because I'm to be the next Saint Miguel...I will become a God." Those words suddenly registered in my head those were the words that Satan had said to God. "You think that Satan would be that smart or cunning to say such selfish words to his beloved God, and risk getting the ultimate punishment." As I looked at Michael fighting Rafael his movements looked inhuman the way he was trying to strike down Rafael was brutal. In his eyes he was not going to stop until one of them lay dead, "that's not his only goal," I looked at Gabriel he was having a hard time trying to heal Rafael each and every time Michael managed to cut him. "Aren't you getting tired of this Rafael...you haven't landed a single hit on me since we began, and poor Gabriel is out of shape." Michael had a point both Rafael and Gabriel were no match for Michael they looked exhausted, and I couldn't do anything to help but pray they will be safe. As I opened my eyes again a ray of lightening illuminated the dark sky and Rafael was falling and as I looked to Gabriel he was on the floor gasping for some air. "You should have known by now that you are no match for me Rafael I was your mentor, I taught you everything you know." Rafael landed on the bed covered by the boards, "you weren't...the only one...that taught...me something." Rafael managed to say before he passed out. "So much for acting all high and mighty if they knew they were no match for me, and now your all alone Vivian and this time you won't escape." He came towards me as I was slowly backing away from him, but I hit a dead end and I was afraid. "What do you think your doing Michael?" Gabriel was awake but he only managed to stop Michael from advancing I don't think he could do anything other than watch. "Your not dead yet?" he smiled at Gabriel who was sprawled on the floor, Michael was seriously looking down on Gabriel. Michael then pulled his leg from Gabriel's grasp and stepped on his hand, tears streamed down my face as he kept torturing Gabriel. His painful screams echoed throughout the room, it was painful to hear those heart wrenching screams, and I couldn't take it anymore. "STOP! Please stop...let him go...you want me right? You want me to go with you...I'll go but let them go!" Michael stopped and looked at me a playful smile appeared on his face, "very well if that is your wish let us go." He expanded his hand towards me and my hand began to shake as he took it, I was afraid of him my heart beat like a thousand birds. "What are you doing Arch Angel Michael?" I turned to the door where there was a guy around my age leaning against the door, Michael smiled as he saw the intruder almost like he knew him. But as I looked at him I realized he had a certain glow to him not to mention he was gorgeous for a guy. "I didn't expect to see you here Holy one," the guy smiled and walked towards us, and once he was close enough to me he grabbed my hand. "Azrael get Arch Angels Rafael and Gabriel to the Chapel to recover and set up the perimeter barrier to keep Arch Angel Michael here." Azrael came into the room, and as I looked at Michael not once did he seem surprise, "yes your Holiness I leave Vivian in your care." As I looked back Azrael made Gabriel and Rafael disappear, and he looked back to Michael and suddenly golden chains appeared. For a second I could have sworn I knew what those chains were they felt nostalgic in a way, "come now Vivian we have to get out of here." Up close this guy was surreal he was too handsome to even be called a God, as I thought about that he suddenly chuckled a bit. "Your mind really loves to run wild doesn't it?" I was so embarrassed I didn't know he could read my thoughts. "Who are you anyways?" I tried to calm down and as I looked back at him the dark clouds cleared away and a ray of light shinned down on us. I right away saw a halo like crown and noticed his wings weren't white but golden, "I am Saint Miguel or Arch Angel Michael was my old name." I was star struck this guy was a Michael? As I asked myself that question I realized we were already on the church's grounds. "Actually I wasn't Michael...at first my name was Giver of light also known as Lucifer...but that changed when I realized my purpose to protect our Holy father in Heaven, I gave up my name to start anew." I looked up at him, "so you knew that the Lucifer line was going to be condemned from the beginning and didn't say anything?" He looked upset, "it's true that I knew but I didn't expect it so soon and much less that he would use you to trigger God's wrath and start a war." So in a way I was implicated in their mess, "Saint Miguel...why was I punished for something I didn't do?" He light green eyes looked white, "so your starting to recall the past...I thought that it would happened eventually but not this fast, everything I knew has been changed or altered to fit someone else's story." I continued to watch Saint Miguel even as we entered the Chapel and I noticed it was empty, "don't worry everyone is safe." I was thinking that Michael had done something to the only people I considered family. "Anyways the past doesn't matter, but the future is more important right now." He said it very seriously, "if Lucifer dies there won't be anymore reincarnations of him and you will fall into a deep sleep." I was suddenly afraid, "but what about all the previous Lucifer's there are at least 4 or 5 that descended from Heaven's Gates." He looked to the sky and the clouds suddenly vanished, "the other Lucifer's are still alive...you don't remember do you?" I shook my head, "you put them to sleep before any harm came to them, while Satan left with you to the mortal world and hid." Everything he said was making sense but I still didn't get how I was supposed to help Luce, "but one Lucifer did die the name he took was Albatross." Saint Miguel thought about it, "maybe it didn't count because his name was not Lucifer, but this time this Lucifer kept his name and is still the same." As I sat on the bench with Saint Miguel the door suddenly burst open and made a loud echo throughout the church. It was Gabriel and Rafael came into the chapel they looked okay, and behind them was Azrael and Father Roughen. I was suddenly scared to see Father Roughen who thought I was a demon. He would think I was tainting or manipulating the Angels, "forgive me Saint Miguel I tried to tell them they needed their rest." Gabriel and Rafael looked better and they had a sad expression on their faces, but none of them said anything. Gabriel all of a sudden hugged me and so did Rafael, "we are sorry that we couldn't protect you." I stood there a bit embarrassed as Saint Miguel and Azrael and even more nervous as Father Roughen stared at me thru his glasses his ice cold eyes were glaring at me. I then pulled apart from them, "it's fine I'm okay and we were able to capture Michael." When I said that father Roughen looked surprise, "you did what!" We all stared at Father Roughen, "who are you?" Saint Miguel asked Father Roughen or whoever he was, "isn't it strange Father you would even ask that of me." Saint Miguel pulled everyone behind himself, "Holy Prince of the Arch Angels Solomon the knowledgeable." Father Roughen smiled and I realized this wasn't Father Roughen but Solomon, "so Father Roughen never existed..." Solomon laughed. "Of course he did but I killed him and took over his vessel," he said that like it didn't matter to him, "you would kill one of God's children for what purpose Prince Solomon." He laughed and by know a black purple flame emitted from him burning Father Roughen's skin. "He has the witches shadow," he smiled and now he was clearly Solomon. His long blonde hair was braided and he had some hair ornaments and two jewel tear drops on either side of his ears. He wore a white outfit that had green and gold boarders and his cape had pure white feathers, "you don't deserve that cape and that crown," when Gabriel said that I noticed that instead of a Halo there was a crown. "Come now Gabriel how can you say such a thing about your beloved Prince I saved your life before," Gabriel tensed his body was growing colder by the minute, "and like I saved you before I can also take back the life I gave to you." I couldn't believe that Solomon could give and take life, "Viviana you might not remember...but I remember that day well..." Solomon turned his attention to me. I started to think what was he talking about, but then I remembered the day that he was talking with Rayne and all of them who conspired against us, I knew that I had heard his voice somewhere but I couldn't remember. "Think back to the time that you were in Heaven before you spoke...before you gave us wings to be free...remember and then tell me it wasn't your fault." I closed my eyes for a second and when I opened them I was back in that time, and as I looked around I saw everything just as I had seen it. Then all of a sudden the dark clouds began to cover the beautiful field of flowers and all of God's children were running from the darkness, there was no light and I couldn't do anything at all. I began to hear singing and as I rounded around the large oak tree I realized that this was the Tree of Life, and I saw myself laying on one of the branches in the Tree sleeping like nothing was happening. All of God's children ran to me for help and cried and begged but I didn't move, and as lightning began to hit the fields a fire spread rapidly, and in the middle of the fire there was a boy who was scared. I opened my eyes when I heard the boy cry and all of a sudden I wasn't sleeping anymore I was next to him whispering into his ear and suddenly the Wings appeared, and the Tree began to glow and made a protective barrier to save everyone from Hell. The Tree took us to the sky beyond the Dark Clouds to the light, and when the Tree stopped and dissolved the barrier someone screamed and on the floor was another child he looked to be dead. I picked up the child and took him to the Tree of Life where a slight crack on the trunk of the Tree had been made to protect someone from harm. Once the boy was in the Tree it began to glow and the roots expanded over the clouds and the branches wrapped themselves around me, and drew me closer to the boy and in my hand I had a green round jewel that had some light inside it look like little fireflies in the form of butterflies dancing inside of it. In my head I heard my own voice 'Leif' it was the first life I created and the little boy was the first that I brought back from the dead, and when the boy woke up I was shocked to see a little Michael. I gave him the Jewel it was the same Jewel I used to make Leif, and then I snapped out of the memory to notice everyone was looking at me strange, "how could you abuse Life like it was a gamble?" Solomon laughed, "that's something I ask myself to this very day...you brought me back from death but I was already gone, and this Jewel is my soul isn't it?" He pulled out a silver chain that had the same Jewel I gave him, and I noticed that the butterfly wasn't looking good, "you had no choice but to save me even though Lucifer was the one that woke you up from your deadly sleep now tell me do you still think your innocent." I looked down at the floor I really didn't know what to say to this child, "if you want to know whether I regret saving you right now...I don't regret saving you Solomon because I'm not your problem and if you want to blame someone blame yourself for being so weak." Those harsh words struck in many ways and I could sense the guys thinking I was crazy for insulting Solomon, "I thought you would say you did regret it...because I regret not killing you when I had the chance." All of a sudden he drew he sword so fast my body couldn't move in time, but as I fell to the floor I saw blood and someone else fell to the floor with me his golden hair was loose and it looked like rays of light. And as he turned to look at me his face was covered in his own blood his green eyes looked dark but even so he was smiling like he was happy to finally be free, and I realized that my mistake all along was saving God's children from death and not letting their cycle repeat itself. "YOU INSOLENT FOOL!" Solomon was mad but thru his eyes I noticed a sudden sadness that wasn't there before, Rafael helped me to my feet and there was a pool of blood and Gabriel still smiled. I was shocked I wanted to scream but as I was going to cover my eyes I realized my hands were also covered in blood, "HOW DARE YOU SHED INNOCENT BLOOD!" I screamed so loudly the Chapel rumbled as if it was going to come down. I could no longer feel my legs they had turned to jelly and my knees touched the pool of blood and I began to crawl towards Gabriel to hold him, but Rafael grabbed my arm and tried to pull me back. But I broke free and Saint Miguel told Rafael to leave me alone, and all the while Solomon just watched, "Gabriel...Gabriel please wake up! Don't leave me right now when I need you the most!" Suddenly tears began to trickle down Gabriel's cheek and the white tear turned red as it cleaned off the blood from his face. I began to pray for a miracle but there was none, and I had realized my mistake and even if I wanted to I could not bring him back so I looked to Saint Miguel for guidance on what to do. "Vivian get up...its going to be alright," I didn't believe Saint Miguel for a second because his lips began to tremble and Rafael was no longer looking at me or Gabriel's lifeless body. "Whenever your around people always die Viviana and now you understand why you must die."
