I stared up at the scarlet hangings of my bed and thought about Scorpius, he always tried to talk to me in between classes and seemed to get his words mixed up. My hair was fanned out on the pillow like flames. Dad would kill me if he thought that me and Scorpius were anything more than 'enemies'. He said that grandad would hate me marrying a pure blood. He wasn't at all like dad had described Draco Malfoy, in fact, he was rather nerdy and out of place amongst the stocky and mean Slytherins in the corridors. I must have sighed because Daisy Longbottom pulled back my curtain and chucked me my tie. I yawned as I got dressed and wondered why I was up so early. A grin spread across my face as I remembered, Quidditch trials were today! I was set on making chaser and had set my alarm clock early. I looked in the small mirror on my bedside cabinet and half heartedly tried to tame my bushy hair. My comet was slung over my shoulder as I made my way down the steep hill to the Quidditch pitch. The light breeze tickled my face and daisies were scattered around the grass. It was perfect conditions for flying. I had practiced on a field near our house, curtained by tall trees. Hugo threw tennis balls in the air and I would dive to catch them. I had gone to the library yesterday to read a battered copy of 'Quidditch Through The Ages' and of course Scorpius was there, his face full of colour, spying between the dimmed colours of well-thumbed textbooks.
We had to fly in groups and I handled the quaffle with ease, launching it through the goalposts that were as tall and straight as giant lollipops. The team captain seemed impressed and asked me to try again with a keeper blocking me. I scored 10 out of 10 times and was guaranteed a position on the team. I was beaming all the way back up to the castle and realised that everything seemed so much nicer all of a sudden. Students were throwing things into the black lake and watching the giant squid retrieve them like an obedient dog, the sun shimmered on its surface like a torch light. It didn't seem such a bad day for a walk.
